WBJEE 2017 Exam PatternWBJEE 2017 Exam PatternThe exam pattern of WBJEE 2017 consist details about the format of the examination to be conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) on April 23. In WBJEE 2017, candidates have to appear in two papers, namely, Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (Physics & Chemistry). WBJEE 2017 will be conducted in the offline mode (pen and paper based examination). Each section of the question paper will be divided into three categories with different marking scheme. WBJEE exam pattern includes examination mode, the total number of questions, marking scheme, duration etc. The exam pattern of WBJEE will help candidates to prepare more efficiently for the exam. Candidates appearing in WBJEE must be well acquainted with the WBJEE 2017 exam pattern to obtain a good score in the entrance test and to qualify for admission to B.Tech programmes offered by around 104 government Colleges, private Colleges & Universities (self financed), minority institutes and University/University department in the state of West Bengal. WBJEE 2017 Exam Pattern

Candidates appearing in WBJEE 2017 may check the exam pattern of WBJEE 2017 below:

Mode of ExaminationWBJEE 2017 will be held in offline mode, i.e. it will be a pen and paper based examination

Subjects of ExaminationThere will be two papers in WBJEE 2017 and both the papers are compulsory.:

  • Paper I- Mathematics
  • Paper II- Physics and Chemistry

Type of QuestionsBoth paper I and II will contain multiple choice questions with four options against each question. In category I and II, only one option will be correct whereas, in category III, there may be more than one correct option

Total number of questions: The paper wise total number of question are as given below:

  • Mathematics- 75
  • Chemistry & Physics- 40 + 40=80

Category of QuestionsAs per WBJEE exam pattern, there will be three categories in each of the subjects. The number of questions and marking scheme will vary in each category. Check the category wise number of questions as well as maximum marks from the table given below:

Marking SchemeThe category wise marking scheme in each subject of WBJEE 2017 is as given below:

1. Category I
  • For each correct response, 1 mark will be awarded
  • Incorrect/ multiple responses will lead to a deduction of 1/4 marks (25% negative)
2. Category II
  • For every correct option, 2 marks will be awarded
  • Incorrect/multiple responses will lead to a deduction of 1/2 marks (25% negative)
3. Category III
  • Every correct response will be awarded 2 marks
  • Combination of correct and wrong answer will be treated incorrect and mo marks will be awarded
  • For a partially correct answer, without any incorrect answer, the following method will be used to award mark:
    2 x (no. of correct response marked)/ ( total no. of correct options)

Duration of WBJEE 2017- Candidates will be given a total duration of 2 hours to complete each of the paper. Candidates can check the time schedule below:

WBJEE 2017 Exam Guidelines

The examination conducting authority, WBJEEB has defined few guidelines that candidates need to follow in the exam hall. The exam guidelines of WBJEE 2017 is as given below:

  • Candidates will be allowed to enter the exam centre of WBJEE 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination
  • Candidates have to take their seats at least 15 minutes before the test. After the commencement of the paper, no student will be allowed to enter the exam centre
  • Students must ensure to appear for the exam only at the centre allotted to them. The complete address of the exam venue will be mentioned in the admit card of WBJEE 2017.
  • Candidates have to carry the print out of the admit card, a copy of coloured photograph similar to the one uploaded while filling up the application form of WBJEE and any photo identity card in original such as Aadhar card/ Pan card/ Passport/ class X admit card/ School ID card
  • No candidate will be allowed to carry any written or printed material, calculator, docu-pen. Wristwatch, log table, electronic devices like mobile phones, blue tooth etc. inside the exam hall. If any student is found to be in possession of any such item, his/her candidature will be cancelled
  • The question booklet will be distributed maximum 15 minutes before the test. Candidates have to write their names and put their signature on the top of the question booklet
  • The OMR number in the OMR (Response) sheet and question booklet number must be same. If it does not match, candidates must ask the invigilator to replace the set
  • Candidates have to put their signature & thumb impression at the appropriate place on the attendance sheet
  • The roll number, photograph, name in the attendance sheet must match with the details mentioned in the admit card. If any mistake is witnessed, it must be brought to the notice of the invigilator
  • The question booklet seals must be opened only at the time of commencement of test and as announced by the invigilator
  • Candidates are advised to check all the pages of the question booklet. In case of any discrepancy, candidates must immediately ask the invigilator to replace the booklet
  • All the rough work have to be done in the space provided in the question booklet
  • No student will be allowed to leave his/her seat without permission of the invigilator until the exam is over
