WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 The eligibility criteria of WBJEE 2018 are the norms defined by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). As per WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018, candidates must be a citizen of India and the age must not be less than 17 years as on December 31, 2018. The minimum qualification required to be eligible for WBJEE is passing class 12 or any other equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. In the qualifying examination, candidates must secure a minimum 45% (40% for reserved categories). Before filling the application form aspirants must make sure that are eligible for the entrance examination scheduled to be held on April 22, 2018. Only those candidates who fulfils WBJEE eligibility criteria will be considered for the counselling and further admission process. WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018

Admission in around 104 engineering institutes will be done through WBJEE 2018. However only those candidates who will fulfil WBJEE eligibility criteria will be able to appear in the entrance test and considered for admission. Check the eligibility criteria defined by the Board for admission listed below before filling WBJEE application form.

Citizenship– Candidates must be a citizen of India.

Age requirement– As per WBJEE eligibility criteria, the age requirement for candidates for regular B.E./B.Tech course and for marine engineering course differs.

WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018 – Age requirement

Course Age requirement
B.Tech/ B.E Candidates’ age must be 17 years as on December 31, 2018. There is no upper age limit. Candidates born on or after January 1, 2002, are not eligible to appear in WBJEE 2018.
Marine engineering Candidates’ whose age falls within 17 years to 25 years as on December 31, 2017.

Academic qualification WBJEE eligibility criteria in terms of academic qualification is given below:

  • Candidates must have passed class 12 examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates must have obtained least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the three subjects taken together.
  • Applicants must pass English in their Class XII examination with at least 30% marks
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2018 may appear in the WBJEE. However, they have to pass the qualifying examination with the required minimum standard of eligibility criteria as stated above for being eligible for the counselling and seat allotment process.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Specific universities

The eligibility criteria of WBJEE in terms of academic qualifications for admission to some specific Universities is given below:

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – University of Calcutta

  1. For Jute and fibre technology course – Candidates must pass class 12 or equivalent Examination with at least 45% (40% for reserved category students) marks in all the above-mentioned three subjects taken together, individual pass marks (both in theory & practical where ever applicable) in each of the subjects and with at least 30 % marks in English.

  2. For all other course – Candidates must pass class 12 or equivalent Examination with at least 60% (55% for reserved category students) marks in all the above three subjects taken together, individual pass marks (both in theory & practical where ever applicable) in each of the subjects and with at least 30 % marks in English.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Jadavpur University

  1. All available coursesCandidates must pass class 12 or equivalent Examination with at least 45% (40% for reserved category students) marks in all the above-mentioned three subjects taken together, individual pass marks (both in theory & practical where ever applicable) in each of the subjects and with at least 30 % marks in English.

  2. Five Year Degree Course in Architecture Besides the academic qualifications as stated above, candidates must qualify either in NATA 2018 or in the Paper 2 of JEE Main, 2018 conducted by the CBSE Board.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences

  • Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in all the three subjects stated above.
  • The minimum percentage that candidates need to obtain in the qualifying exam is 50% (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English taken together.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Neotia University

  1. All available B. Tech courses Candidates must pass class 12 or equivalent Examination with at least 60% marks in the above three subjects taken together.

  2. B.Tech in Marine Engineering Candidates must pass class 12 or equivalent Examination with at least 60% marks in the above three subjects taken together and secure at least 50% in English.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Domicile

According to WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018 there is no particular Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the entrance examination. However, the State Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for WBJEE admission to any Government engineering and technology colleges of the state and for admission to any reserved category of seats in any of participating institutes. The residential/domicile requirement is also applicable for admission under the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Requirements for claiming domicile

Only those candidates fulfilling either of the criteria mentioned below will be treated as domicile of West Bengal

  1. Candidates residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last ten years as on December 31, 2017.
  2. Candidates whose either or both parents are permanent residents of West Bengal.

About WBJEE 2018 – WBJEE is a state level examination conducted by WBJEEB every year for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes. Through WBJEE around 104 engineering institutes in West Bengal will fill nearly 35,000 seats in over 44 engineering branches. WBJEE 2018 will be held on April 22 in around 44 cities of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. In 2017, nearly 1 lakh candidates qualified WBJEE.
