Surprise! JEE Main 2015 Cutoff Lower than Expected

Central Board of Secondary Education has released the result of Joint Entrance Exam and along it JEE Main 2015 cutoff has also been announced. The official JEE Main 2015 cutoff, for each category, is as below:

After witnessing unexpectedly tricky Chemistry questions and passably moderate Physics and Mathematics section it was expected that the cutoff will be similar to previous year. However, to everybody’s surprise JEE Main 2015 cutoff has gone very low. The difference between the official JEE Main 2015 and expect cutoff is immense. To state it clearly, we have summarized both, in the table below.

From the table above, one can easily deduce that the variation in the expected cutoff and the actual one. The expected cutoff was quite high, while, the actual one is distinctly low.

The statistics clearly show that in comparison to previous year, the cutoff has decreased. However, in comparison to 2013 cutoff, the JEE Main 2015 cutoff is almost similar.  

JEE Main 2015 was held on 4, 10 and 11 April 2015. On 27 April, CBSE issued the result for it. Along the result, the JEE Main 2015 Cutoff  was issued, which is the minimum marks required to qualify the exam. These minimum marks will be used to determine the eligible candidates for JEE Advanced 2015. Only 1.5 lahk JEE Main entrant, out of 13 lahk total aspirants, will be declared eligible to take Advanced paper. On the other hand, for admission into NITs, CFTIs and various other institutes JEE Main 2015 Rank will be used, which will be issued on 7 July 2015.  

JEE Advanced 2015 application form will be available from 2 to 7 May 2015 and the exam will be held on 24 May 2015.
