Lesser Candidates For JEE Main 2014 Online Exam

As per the statistics released by CBSE, the exam conducting body of JEE Main 2014, this year 13.56 lakh candidates have registered and applied for Joint Entrance Examination 2014 and only 1.71 lakh candidates have opted for Online mode of JEE Main 2014, which is actually less than previous year i.e. 2013. Last year, 1.74 lakh candidates opted for online JEE Main.

This year onwards, CBSE wanted to scrap the offline (pen and paper) mode of JEE Main 2014 but seeing the heavy turnout and preference of candidates, it was kept intact. So two modes were made available to candidates, online and offline. Dates of online JEE Main 2014 is 9, 11, 12, 19 April 2014 while the offline exam will be held on 6 April 2014.

To encourage the online mode of JEE Main 2014, CBSE allotted online centers in bigger cities but still candidates are going for offline mode, surprisingly ready to travel miles to smaller towns to attempt exam using pen and paper. Students are not ready to risk their futures as they think CBT might leave scope for errors and glitches.
