KCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria are the set of conditions defined by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for admission in the state of Karnataka. Every aspirant seeking admission through the common entrance test must satisfy all the Eligibility Criteria of KCET 2017. If any candidate is found to be ineligible for admission after the application procedure gets over or at any other stage, the candidature of that particular student will be cancelled and the application fee will not be refunded either. KCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants must read the eligibility criteria before applying for KCET 2017. After the final submission of application form, if any candidate is found to be ineligible, that particular candidate will be disqualified from the admission process. The application fee will not be refunded either. Therefore, every student must ensure to check the details of KCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria given below:

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.

Domicile: Requirement of being a resident of Karnataka or studied within the state of Karnataka is specified under separate clauses and is individually referred by a code. Candidates have to satisfy the following clauses of KCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria defined by KEA for admission to Government seats in various institutes through KCET 2017.

Clause (a): Candidates must have studied and qualified in one or more Government or government recognised institution in the state of Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years from class 1 to class XII as on July 1, 2017.

Clause (b): Candidates must have qualified class XII or equivalent examination from an institution recognised by the state Government. At least one of the parents of the candidate must have studied in Karnataka state for a minimum period of seven years.

Clause (c): The mother tongue of the candidate and either of the parent should be Kannada, Kodava, Tulu. In addition to that, either of the candidate’s parent must be a resident of Karnataka. The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination and residing outside Karnataka as on May 1, 2017. Such candidates have to undergo a Kannada Language test conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority.

Clause (d): Candidates whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava should have resided and studied for a period of seven years between class I- class XII in the disputed Kannada speaking area of South Sholapur/Akkalkot/Jath/Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod/Hosadurg/Taluks of Kerala State. Candidates have to undergo a language test conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority.

Clause (e): Ward of defense personnel who has worked continuously for a minimum period of one year in Karnataka during the 2 years period of H.S are eligible. Candidates have to pass the qualifying exam from any Government or Government recognised educational institutes in the state of Karnataka.

Clause (f):

  • Ward of Defence personnel from Karnataka who at the time of joining the defence service declared his/ her hometown a place in Karnataka state.
  • Candidates must have qualified H.S or equivalent examination from a board or university located anywhere in India.

Clause (g):

  • Ward of a defence personnel who had served in Karnataka for at least one year and is posted on duty in the field and whose family is permitted by Defence Authorities to continue to stay in Karnataka.
  • Such students must have studied and passed the qualifying exam from any Government or Government aided institution in Karnataka.

Clause (h):

  • Ward of an ex- servicemen who at the time of joining the defence service declared the hometown to be in Karnataka.
  • Such candidates should have passed the qualifying examination from any institute located anywhere in India.

Clause (i):

  • Ward of an employee of the Union Government or an employee of the Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking, liable to be transferred anywhere in India.
  • The employee must have worked in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year during the two-year period of study of the candidates in PUC/ Class XI-XII.
  • They must have qualified H.S from any Government or Government recognised institution located in Karnataka.

Clause (j): Ward of a working or retired employee of the Union Government or employee of Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Underaking where such employee;

  • had declared that the hometown is any place in Karnataka at the time of joining .
  • had studied in any Government or Government recognised educational institution in Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years, and was or is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment.
  • Further, candidates must have passed H.S from a University or Board or any other institute located anywhere in India.

Clause (k): Ward of members of Parliament elected from Karnataka must have passed H.S from any institution located anywhere in India.

Clause (l):

  • Son/ daughter of serving or retired employee belonging to All India Service of Karnataka cadre and of the Karnataka State government served/ serving outside Karnataka state.

  • The period of service must correspond to candidate’s study outside the state from class I – 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination.

Clause (m): Son/ daughter of Jammu & Kashmir migrants, must provide proof of migration obtained from the jurisdictional “District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India.

Clause (n): Candidates who have studied class 1- 10 in Kannada medium outside Karnataka state. Candidates must have studied and qualified H.S from any government or Government aided institution

Clause (o):

  • Son/ daughter of working or retired employee in Central Armed Police Force service, who at the time of joining the CAPF service had declared the hometown as a place in the state of Karnataka.
  • Proof of such domicile has to be produced by obtaining it from the office record of the CAPF unit.
  • Candidates should have passed H.S from any institute located anywhere in India.

Academic Qualification:

The following are the academic qualification required to fulfill KCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates have to pass Class XII or any equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Apart from the main subjects, candidates must have studied Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects. Candidates must have had English as one of the languages of study.
  • Candidates have to obtain a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) category have to secure 40% of marks.
  • in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for the required aggregate percentage, then the marks obtained the candidate in Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science will be considered. This consideration of marks will only be done to determine the eligibility of the student.
  • Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination and expecting the results are also eligible to apply for KCET 2017.

2. a study certificate of either of the parent who have studied for at in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years. It must be issued from the Head of the educational institution where he/she had studied.

3. the candidate’s study certificate indicating that they have studied both 1st & 2nd PUC or Class X and XII in Karnataka. It must be issued by the head of the educational institution.

c

1. A domicile certificate indicating that the candidate and his either of the parent have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on May 01, 2017. It must be issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities and place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate/father/mother.

2. A domicile certificate regarding the previous domicile of either of the candidate as a place situated in the state of Karnataka. It must be issued by the concerned Revenue Authorities of the state and the place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the parents.

3. Study certificate and Transfer Certificate of the candidate.

4. Class X marks card/cumulative record in original in support of mother tongue of either of the parent as Kannada/Tulu/Kodava.

5. A declaration duly worn indicating the mother tongue of the candidates.

1. Residential certificate from the concerned Tahsildar of the respective disputed Taluk.
2.Study certificate of the candidates issued by the head of institution/school. It should be countersigned by Taluk Education Officer.
3. A declaration regarding mother tongue of the candidate.

  1. The study certificate indicating that the candidate have studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka. The certificate must be issued by the head of the educational institution.

2. Employment certificate of the parent issued by the Controlling Office where the parent is working. It must indicate the period during which he has worked in the State of Karnataka i.e., from the reporting date to till date.

f

1. For reservation benefits: Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar as per the prescribed format.

2. Declaration Certificate of the Parent’s home town while joining the service issued by respective branch of integrated HQ of MoD for Officers and respective Record Offices for JCOs /OR.

  1. The study certificate mentioning that the candidates have studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka. It must be issued by the head of the educational institution.

2. Service certificate of the parents issued by the Controlling Office indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka and a certificate showing the current place of posting. It should also indicate hat his/her family is permitted to stay in Karnataka. The present working place of the parent should be indicated in NAME and not by CODE NUMBERS.

  1. For reservation benefits: Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F.

2. Parent’s home town declaration certificate while joining the service issued by the Joint Director/Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore.

1. The candidate’s study certificate indicating the qualification of 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution.

2. A certificate from the employer indicating the parent’s period of employment in the State of Karnataka and also showing that he/she is transferable anywhere in India.

3. A certificate from employer indicating parent as an employee of Union Government or an employee of the Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking.

1. For reservation benefits:- Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F Along with – (1) a study certificate of the parent employee for having studied for at least 7 years in the State of Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he/she had studied. (2) home town declaration certificate of the parent employee while joining the service and showing that he is transferable anywhere in India issued by the employer.

1. For reservation benefits:- Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F Along with – (1) a study certificate of the parent employee for having studied for at least 7 years in the State of Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he/she had studied. (2) home town declaration certificate of the parent employee while joining the service and showing that he is transferable anywhere in India issued by the employer.

  1. For reservation benefits: Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category have to produce it in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form F.

2. Certificate from the Principal Secretary/Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary, DPAR, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore where the parent belongs to All India Service of Karnataka cadre. It should state that the parent is a member of such All India Cadre. The certificate should also indicate the period during which he has served or is serving outside the state of Karnataka. If the parent is a State Government Employee, a certificate from the concerned Head of the Department or the Head of the Office where such parent is employed should be produced in this regard.

m

  1. As a proof of migration, candidates have to produce an original certificate (IDENTITY CARD) issued by the Jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India. The candidates who are claiming eligibility under this clause are eligible only for the seats earmarked by the Government.

  1. A domicile certificate indicating that the candidate and his father/mother have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on May 01, 2017. It must have been issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate/father/mother.

2. Study certificate of the candidates for having studied in Kannada Medium from class 1 to class 10 issued by the head of the institution.

  1. For reservation benefits: Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar as per the prescribed format.

2. Parent’s home town declaration certificate while joining the service issued by Record Office of the CAPF unit, where the parents service records are maintained.
