JoSAA 2017 Seat AllotmentJoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment: Joint Seat Allocation Authority has released round 7 JoSAA seat allotment result in online mode. The result for all other categories was declared on July 21. Round 6 of JoSAA seat allotment 2017 result was announced on July 18, 2017. Withdrawal option was only available until round 6 of JoSAA seat allotment 2017. Candidates are not allowed to withdraw their option during the seventh round of JoSAA 2017 seat allotment. The candidates can view JoSAA seat allotment result and pay the seat acceptance fee until July 22 (5:00 pm) from the link provided below. To check the allotted seat candidates must enter JEE Main 2017 roll number and password in the candidate login page. The result of JoSAA Seat Allotment round 5 was announced on July 16. Round 3 was declared on July 12 followed by round 4 on July 13, 2017. JoSAA seat allotment 2017 result for all the rounds is declared in online mode. Round 1 of JoSAA 2017 seat allotment was declared on June 28. There is a total of seven JoSAA seat allotment rounds. The JoSAA seat allocation 2017 is being done as per the merit rank of the candidate as well as preferences of colleges and courses. After acceptance of the seats, candidates are provided provisional seat allotment letter and they have to report to the Institute for document verification. Candidates who are allotted seats can upgrade or withdraw seats as per their preference.  All the candidates who have been allotted seat must pay the balance fees and report to the allotted seat in person for confirming their seat.

Eligibility for JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment

Below are the eligibility requirements to get selected for seat allotment process:

JEE Main 2017

JEE Main 2017 Paper 1

  • Secured a rank in JEE (Main) 2017 in Paper-1 for B.E./B.Tech. programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and Other-GFTIs and should have passed Class XII or equivalent examination with Physics
  • and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
  • All the candidates must obtain at least 45% for General and 40% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD candidates in each of the subjects.

JEE Main 2017 Paper II

  • Secured a rank in JEE (Main) 2017 Paper-2 for B.Arch./B.Planning programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and Other-GFTIs
  • Can didates must have Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) examination
  • Applicants must secure 50% aggregate marks applicable for all categories in total five subjects including Mathematics.
JEE Advanced 2017 Qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2017 for academic programs excluding the preparatory courses at IITs and ISM and satisfies the requirements in Class XII or equivalent examination.

Categories for Seat Allotment process

Gen Assigned to OCI/PIO or the candidates who do not belong to OBC-NCL, SC,ST, or PwD. Also, candidates who fail to produce proper OBC-NCL, SC, St, PwD documents will be assigned this tag.
OBC-NCL Assigned to candidates who belong to the non-creamy layer of other backward classes.
SC Assigned to candidates who belong to the scheduled caste.
ST Assigned to candidates who belong to the scheduled tribe.
OBC-NCL-PwD Assigned to candidates who belong to the non-creamy layer of other backwards classes and are persons with disabilities.

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment process

The JoSAA 2017 seat allocation consists of seven rounds. The candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2017 will be allocated seats into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 other GFTIs while the candidates who qualified JEE Advanced 2017 will be allotted seats in the 23 IITs across the country.

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment Mock Rounds

There are 2 rounds of JoSAA 2017 seat allocation to help students to lock in their best choices. After registration and choice filling candidates were required to appear in two mock seat allotment rounds within the JoSAA registration 2017 process. The first round of mock allotment was displayed based on the choices filled in by candidates. The second round of JoSAA mock allotment has announced on June 23 for all those candidates who have filled their choices till June 22, 2017 (5:00 pm). After the mock allotments, the candidates must modify choices their preference of courses and colleges for getting the most desired programme and institute.

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment will be done for the following categories

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment is conducted for admission of the eligible candidates on the following ground:

  • Candidates will be offered admission to courses available at IITs, ISM and IITs. IITs and ISM will also allocate seats for Defence Category, Foreign Tag (only General) candidates, Preparatory courses.
  • Applicants who want to get admission to the Home State candidates to various engineering courses at the NITs, except the candidates whose Home State is Andhra Pradesh for academic programs at NIT Warangal.
  • Candidates belonging to the Home State applied for admission to academic programs at Birla Institute of Technology Mesra and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur.
  • Other States candidates to academic programs at the NITs, excluding the candidates whose Home State is Andhra Pradesh for academic programs at NIT Warangal.
  • Other States candidates to academic programs at Birla Institute of Technology Mesra and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur.
  • All candidates to academic programs at Other-GFTIs, excluding those whose Home State is Assam to academic programs at Assam University, Silchar.

The candidates belonging to the Home State Quotas and Union Territories shall be called for admission in a separate as notified by JoSAA 2017.

Seat Acceptance Fee of JoSAA Seat Allocation 2017

To confirm a seat, candidates should  visit their respective reporting centres for document verification and pay the seat acceptance fee. For general categories – Rs. 45,000 and SC, ST, Gen PWD, SC PWD, ST PWD and OBC-NCL PWD categories – Rs 20, 000. Fee payment can be made using SBI/Net banking or e-challan.

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allotment Important Points

Till 6th round of JoSAA 2017 seat allotment candidates can upgrade/withdraw their seat and participate in the next round of JoSAA 2017 counselling.

  • Upgradation of Seats – If in the case in the JoSAA 2017 rank list a candidate fall under two rank list (category wise) such as SC and CRL. Such candidate in the following round of JoSAA 2017 seat allocation, will be offered a seat under Open Category. However, the change in institute/program will not be allowed.
  • Change of Details – All the candidates who have successfully filled in the JoSAA 2017 Application Form will not be allowed to change their Name, Father’s Name /Mother’s Name/Guardian Name, Date of Birth, Class XII examination board and Birth Category.

Eligibility for appearing JEE Advanced in the later years

  • Candidates who withdraw seats in the withdrawal facility can appear for JEE Advanced 2018 provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
  • Candidates who do not withdraw seat at IIT or ISM by reporting at the admitting institute or a reporting centre but do not withdraw seat, irrespective of whether they attend classes or not, become ineligible for JEE (Advanced) in subsequent years.
  • Candidates whose admission is cancelled for any reason whatsoever become ineligible to appear to JEE Advanced in subsequent years.
  • Invalid documents produce at the later years regarding JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2017 will not be accepted.
  • Candidates who are admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs or ISM in the academic year 2017-18 can appear in JEE Advanced 2017 provided they meet all the other eligibility conditions.
