JEE Main 2017 Seat AllotmentJEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment – The seat allotment of JEE Main 2017 is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The seventh round of JEE Main seat allotment result has been declared on July 21, 2017. The total number of vacant seats after JEE Main seat allotment 2017 round 7  is 461. Candidates can check the seat allotment result of JEE Main by entering their JEE Main roll number and password. The link to check the result of JEE Main 2017 seat allotment for round 5 has been provided on this page.  Shortlisted candidates have to report to the allotted centre on July 22, 2017, for seat acceptance. The sixth and the fifth round of JEE Main seat allotment result 2017 was released on July 18 and 16, respectively. The result for the fourth round of JEE Main seat allotment was announced on July 13, 2017. The third, second and first round of JEE Main seat allotment was published on July 10, July 04 and June 28, 2017. There are in total seven rounds of JEE Main seat allotment and candidates are allotted seats as per their JEE Main 2017 rank and preference of choices. In each round of JEE Main 2017 seat allotment, candidates have to download the provisional seat allotment letter and report at the centre in person to complete the admission process within the given time period. Candidates also got an opportunity to upgrade their seats for the subsequent round of JEE Main 2017 seat allotment. JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment Steps

The JEE Main 2017 seat allocation is carried out in seven rounds. Candidates have to undergo the following steps to successfully complete their seat allotment process

  • Online Registration
  • Online Choice Filling/locking
  • Downloading of provisional seat allotment letter
  • Reporting at the reporting centre for completing formalities
  • Reporting at the allotted institute

JEE Main 2017 Mock Seat Allotment

JoSAA has released the second mock seat allotment result of JEE Main on June 23. The first mock seat allocation was published on June 20, 2017, at 5:00 pm. Candidates who have registered and filled in their choices of institutes and branches can check the list of possible seats that will be allotted to them as per their preferences and rank.

JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment Rounds

As mentioned earlier, JEE Main 2017 seat allotment will be conducted in seven rounds. After each round of JEE Main seat allotment process, candidates who have been allotted a seat have to report at the reporting centre with all their important documents for verification. Candidates also have to pay the requisite fee amount. After the completion of each round of JEE Main seat allotment, JoSAA will display the total number of filled and vacant seats for the subsequent rounds of seat allotment process.

JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment- Freeze, Float and Slide Options

After a seat is allotted to the candidates they can apply for any of the three options as per their convenience:

Freeze: Candidates have to ‘freeze’ the allotted seat if they want to accept the seats and do not want to participate in further rounds of JEE Main counselling.

Float: Applicants have to opt for this option if they have accepted the seat allotted by JoSAA but also wants to apply for a better/higher preference in the subsequent rounds of counselling.

Slide: Candidates who have accepted the allotted seat but seeking admission to a higher preferable programme within the Institute have to opt for ‘Slide’ option. Such candidates will be considered for further admission process.

Payment of JEE Main 2017 Seat Acceptance Fee

After every round of seat allotment, candidates who have been allotted a seat have to pay the seat acceptance fee. The payment can be made through e- challan or SBI Net Banking. The seat acceptance fee for the the different category is as given below:

Reporting at the Allotted Institute

Candidates, after completing JEE Main 2017 seat allocation and seat acceptance process at the reporting centre have to finally report at their allotted institute. Candidates have to complete all the required formalities and confirm their admission.

JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment- Withdrawal of Seats

  • Candidates who have been allotted a seat can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting center before the seventh round of seat allocation
  • Candidates who have exercised withdraw option will not be considered for subsequent rounds of seat allotment.
  • Seat acceptance fee will be refunded to these candidates after deducting the processing charges of Rs. 1000
  • There is no option of withdrawal of an accepted/allotted seat after the announcement of last round of seat allocation.
  • For exercising withdraw option, candidates have to fill-in the Bank Account details and upload an image of cancelled cheque of the same account in JPG format. Candidates have to download the withdrawal request letter which must be signed by the candidate and his/her parent. Candidates then have to report at a reporting centre to vacate the seat
