JEE Main Reservation of Seats 2018

JEE Main reservation of seats is done for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD candidates. The percentage of seats reserved for candidates belonging to each category is given below in the table:

In every engineering colleges participating for admission through JEE Main, 5% seats are reservation for women.

JEE Main Reservation of Seats 2018- Home state and other state quota

In addition to JEE Main reservation of seats mentioned above, seats for academic programmes offered by NITs, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur are divided into the following two quotas:

  1. Home State (HS) quota– Home State quota will be applicable for candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination from the state in which the institute allottd to students for admission is situated.
  2. Other States (OS) quota– It includes all the states and union territories except the home state/ home union territory.

Instructions to claim JEE Main 2018 Reservation of Seats

  • Mention category details– Candidates must mention the details of their categories in the JEE Main 2018 Application form.
  • Submission of documents– At the time of JEE Main counselling 2018, candidates have to submit valid category certificates for verification.
  • Failure in producing category certificates– In case, candidates fail to produce the required documents they will be allocated seats under General category.

About JEE Main 2018

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Based on JEE Main 2018, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs will fill approximately 24,000 seats. The top 2, 20,000 (approx) JEE Main rank holders will be shortlisted for JEE Advanced. JEE Main consist two papers- Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Plan.). Candidates can appear for either or both papers as per their preferences. In 2017, JEE Main was held in nearly 1800 exam centres in the country and foreign cities. Out of 12 lakh candidates, 8 lakh qualified for admission into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs, 20 GFTIs.
