Along with the JEE Main 2017 All India Rank, the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017 will also follow certain policies and criteria for admitting the students. As per the norms of the Govt. of India, candidates belonging to certain categories are entitled for reservation of seats.             JEE Main 2017 Cutoff 

The government of India reserves seats for the candidates on the basis of their category. The Other Backward class (Non-Creamy Layer), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Person with Disability (PwD) with 40% or more disability falls under the reserved category. The percentage of category wise reservation of seats is mentioned in the table below:

Reservation of seats in IITs, NITs, CFTIs:

Reservation of seats in Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017 like IITs, NITs and CFTIs, will be given only to the classes/castes/tribes mentioned in the respective central list published by the Govt. of India.

Reservation of seats in State Engineering colleges:

For the reservation of seats in State Engineering Colleges who have opted for admission through JEE Main 2017, the reservation rules of that state will apply.

Reservation for Women:

Every college has 5% reservation for women.

JEE Main 2017 Quota – Quotas/ applicable in NITs

Candidates admitted seats in NITs on the basis of Home State (HS) Quota and Other States (OS) Quota. Details are provided in the table below:

Home State (HS) Quota Advantage of 50% Reservation of seats
Other State (OS) Quota Advantage of 50% reservation of seats to candidates belonging to other states, Union territories, excluding the home state.

 Others Applicable for JEE Main 2017 Quota:

  • Defence Personnel.
  • Local and non- local Candidates.

Instructions to claim Reservation for JEE Main 2017:

  • Candidates must mention the details of their categories in the JEE Main 2017 Application form.
  • Candidates have to submit the proper certificates for verification of the categories they belong at the time of JEE Main 2017 Counselling.
  • Candidates have to submit proper documents at the time of admission to claim the reserved seats.

Documents to be produced for JEE Main 2017 Reservation:

During the seat Allocation process as well as at the admission time, candidates belonging to OBC (NCL), SC, ST, and PwD categories will have to produce original certificate issued by the competent authority. The candidates will not be considered for admission under the reserved categories if they fail to produce the same.
