Live Highlights of JEE Main 2017 Paper 1

  • Paper 1 JEE Main 2017 conducted for B.E./B.Tech aspirants in the morning session from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Difficulty Level of Paper 1 JEE Main 2017 – Physics was difficult, followed by Mathematics and Chemistry. Overall difficulty was moderate as compared to previous year.
  • Students found Chemistry and Maths questions tricky. 
  • 4 sets of question paper were there, having codes A,B, C and D. Total 90 multiple choice questions were there in paper. 
  • 30 questions each to be asked from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. The level of the questions in this entrance test remained that of class 11 and 12.
  • Each question was of 4 marks and total marks of JEE Main 2017 was 360.
  • Negative marking of 1 will be applicable for marking an incorrect answer.
  • In the Physics section, the questions are expected to be asked from topics such as Modern Physics, Optics, Waves, Electricity, Magnetism, Mechanics etc.
  • Questions from Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry are expected to be there in the Chemistry section of the paper.
  • Mathematics section is likely to have questions from Algebra, Statistics, Vectors, Calculus, Reasoning and Trigonometry etc.

JEE Main 2017 Exam Analysis – What should be your good attempt?

The candidates can use JEE Main 2017 answer key to estimate their score. JEE Main 2017 Exam Analysis based on difficulty level

According to experts, the overall difficulty of JEE Main 2017 exam is moderate. Compared to last year, the paper was easy. As per the JEE Main exam anslysis 2017, Physics has been the toughest section followed by Mathematics and Chemistry. Last year, the difficulty level was increased a bit for JEE Main paper. 

JEE Main 2017 Expected Cutoff

As told above, based on JEE Main 2017 paper analysis, various coaching institutes will declare expected cut off of JEE Main 2017. The candidates will be able to evaluate their performance in exam compared to other exam takers. Since, the difficulty level of questions in JEE Main 2017 was moderate, the cut off score is likely to go down. Last year, the JEE Main cut off score of General category was 100, while for OBC it was 70.

JEE Main 2017 Exam Analysis of Paper 2 

  • Paper 2 JEE Main 2017 to be held for B.Arch/B.Planning aspirants in afternoon session, from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm.  
  • Total 82 questions are expected to be there in the exam.
  • Paper 2 is expected to be marked out of total 390 marks.
  • 50 MCQs from aptitude test expected to be there carrying 4 marks each. Total marks for this section will be 200.
  • 30 objective type questions are expected to be asked from Mathematics section carrying 4 marks each. Total marks for this section will be 120.
  • 2 questions expected to be there from drawing carrying 35 marks each making the total marks for this section to be 70.

The JEE Main is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for selection of top 220000 candidates for JEE Advanced and for preparing of All India merit list for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs. Based on the JEE Main 2017 All India rank, candidates will be selected for admission to nearly 24,000 undergraduate engineering seats in 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFITs. Also, based on JEE Main 2017 result, the top 220000 candidates will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced scheduled to be held on May 21 for admission to around 11000 B.Tech seats in 23 IITs.
