JEE Main 2017 Opening and closing rankJEE Main 2017 Opening and Closing Rank: The opening and closing rank of JEE Main 2017 is the rank range that candidates have to obtain for admission. JEE Main 2017 opening and closing rank will be announced by JoSAA at the time of seat allotment process. Each institute will publish the opening and closing rank of JEE Main individually. The JEE Main opening and closing rank will be released category wise and for each Branch and category, the cutoff rank will vary. The JEE Main 2017 opening and closing rank will be provided on this page as soon as it is announced by the 23 IIITs, 20 NITs and 20 GFTIs. We have also provided the Opening and Closing Rank of JEE Main 2016 to help the candidates get an idea about the variation in ranks of different Participating Institutes.

The Seat Allotment of JEE Main 2017 will be held in seven rounds. The opening rank will be the highest rank and the Closing rank will be the last rank accepted for admission by the Participating Institutes. The Closing and Opening Ranks will differ for each Institute. Candidates whose rank is more than the Closing Rank will not be considered for admission in any of the Participating Institutes of JEE Main 2017. After the conclusion of the 1st round of JEE Main 2017 seat allotment, if there are vacant seats in various branches of the Participating Institutes, their Opening and Closing rank will be announced in the second round. Features of JEE Main 2017 Opening and Closing Rank:

  • The Opening and Closing Rank of JEE Main will be used for admission by the Participating Institute of JEE main 2017.
  • The Opening and Closing Rank will differ for different categories. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will get relaxation.
  • The Closing and Opening Rank list will contain the following details mentioned below:
  1. Institute name.
  2. Program name.
  3. Quota.
  4. General Rank
  5. OBC-NCL Rank.
  6. SC Rank.
  7. ST Rank.
  8. PwD status.

Cancellation of seats:

Candidates despite holding better (numerically smaller) rank than the Closing rank might not be allotted seats in the respective program or category because of the following reasons mentioned below:

  • The seat allotted to the candidate might be get cancelled due to one or more of the following:
  1. Category (OBC, SC or ST) changed to GEN.
  2. Gender entry changed from Male to Female.
  3. Change in the State Code of Eligibility.
  4. PwD status changed from Yes to No.
  • While accepting the allocated seat the candidate exercised the Freeze or Slide option and/or changed willingness option in subsequent rounds.
  • At the time of accepting the seat allocated to the candidates, the candidate was found to be ineligible (e.g., due to colour blindness, one-eyed vision, etc.) for some of his/her chosen courses.
