Around 10.2 lakh candidates appeared in JEE Main 2017 which was held on April 2 at around 18000 exam centers across India. The examination authority, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully conducted the exam without any discrepancy. The online mode exam of JEE Main 2017 is scheduled to be held on April 8 & 9. The exam was conducted for admission to prestigious institutes of technology like -IITs, NITs, IITs, and GFITs. As per the experts and test takers the questions were comparatively easier than last years. Based on the JEE Main 2017 score top 220000 candidates will be selected to JEE Advanced 2017 for admission to 11000 seats in 23 IITs. While admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs to be done on the basis of JEE main 2017 rank.
Paper 1 of JEE Main had questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Overall, the paper was of moderate level. Almost all the topics covered in the exam was based on class 11 and 12 syllabus prescribed by CBSE.
This year, In Paper 1 of JEE Main, Mathematics emerged as the most difficult section with few lengthy and tricky questions. The Physics section was easier as compared to the previous year although it required analytic ability beyond the NCERT books. The Chemistry section was the easiest in comparison to the other two sections. Equal weightage was given to Physical, Organic and Inorganic chemistry.
After the completion of the examination, various coaching institutes like Aakash, FIITJEE, Resonance etc. released the answer key for all the sets of Paper 1 coded A,B,C, and D. For Paper 2, till now, out of the four sets W,X,Y,Z, Allen Kota has released the answer key of the question paper coded X. After calculating the probable score with the help of the answer key of JEE Main, candidates can check the cutoff score to know if they have a chance to qualify the entrance examination. Last year, the cutoff for the General category was 100. Experts of FIITJEE expects the cutoff of JEE Main 2017 to be high around 115. Whereas, Career point expects the cutoff to be in between 98-103. The official cutoff will be declared by CBSE along with the result on April 27, 2017. Till then, candidates can check the JEE Main 2017 expected cutoff released by the institutes.
