The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued the official notification for the 4th Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2016. As per the notice that has been published, JEE Main 2016 will be held in the offline mode on 3 April 2016 and in the online mode on 9 & 10 April 2016. Candidates, who are interested in appearing for the Pre-Engineering Test, can start registering their applications from 1 December 2015 onwards. The application forms will be made available online through the JEE (Main) website i.e jeemain.nic.in. The JEE Main 2016 Application Forms will be accepted up to 31 December 2015.
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2016 will continue as per the existing exam pattern. The eligibility criteria will also remain the same for students. Like every year, the merit/rank list for JEE Main 2016 will be prepared by giving 40 percent weight to the school board marks of the candidate in Class 12 or its equivalent examination and 60 percent weight to the JEE Main 2016 scores. This year, however, the JEE (Main) system has been joined by a number of new states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttrakhand, Haryana, Odisha and Nagaland. Previously, these states were conducting their own state level examinations to select candidates for admissions. Now, admissions to the engineering institutes of these states will be done via the Joint Entrance Examination.
JEE Main 2016 will also be the eligibility test for the second tier JEE (Advanced) Exam that will be conducted for candidates who are aspiring to secure admissions to the undergraduate programs that are offered at the IITs and/or ISM Dhanbad.
