The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2014 offline exam was conducted yesterday i.e. on 6 April 2014 and as expected, the exam was full of surprises. Although, the question paper was based on similar exam pattern as that of previous years and there were many questions straight from previous year question papers. The exam was conducted over a time span of three hours starting from 9:30 am and got over at 12: 30 pm.
The exam was conducted for 360 marks and has questions from Physics, Chemistry and Math subjects. Going by the analysis of the question paper, the difficulty level of the exam varied from moderate to difficult and the subject wise analysis suggests that Math and Chemistry subjects were flawless but Physics section encountered with some issues. In the Physics sections, there were questions that had all the wrong options, which brought lot of confusion to the candidates and further wasted time as well.
As far the marking scheme is concerned, the authorities stick to their rules of 4 marks for right answer, -1 mark for incorrect answer and no marks for un attempted question. In physics section, question 10, 85, 56 and question 28 in set E,F,G and H respectively had all the wrong options i.e. no answer was correct and there was no addition option saying none of them.
Various reputed private coaching institutes have confided this huge error and this whole error has raised questions in from of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the governing mode as the whole scenario will have a serious effect on candidate’s scores and ranking.
