How is JEE Advanced 2017 Result Calculated?

The result of JEE Advanced 2017 is calculated by using the following method:

  • The result of JEE Advanced has been released for only those candidates who appeared in both paper 1 and paper 2.
  • The overall marks obtained in JEE Advanced is based on the marks obtained in paper 1 and paper 2. i.e. marks obtained in each subject is equal to marks scored in Physics of paper 1 + marks scored in paper 2.
  • The aggregate marks obtained by candidates in JEE Advanced 2017 is the sum of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • The rank list has been prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained by candidates in JEE Advanced 2017

JEE Advanced 2017 Result- Tie Breaking Mechanism

If the aggregate mark scored by two or more candidates are same, ranks to be awarded using the following tie breaking policy:

  • Candidates with higher marks in Mathematics has been assigned higher rank
  • If this does not break the tie, candidates obtaining higher marks in Physics has been assigned higher rank
  • In case the tie still persists, candidates has been assigned the same rank

JEE Advanced Result Previous Years’ Analysis

Last year, in JEE Advanced conducted by IIT Guwahati, a total number of 1,47,678 candidates appeared for the exam. However, 36,566 could qualify the exam. JEE Advanced AIR was bagged by Aman Bansal from Jaipur. Whereas, in 2015, 26,456 out of the 1,17,238 candidates who took the exam qualified for admission to IITs. JEE Advanced 2017 Counselling

After the result of JEE Advanced has been declared, candidates have to register themselves for the counselling. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017  will conduct the counselling of JEE Advanced 2017. The online registration will start from June 15 to 26, 2017. For the academic session 2017-18, the counselling will be held in seven rounds. The first round of seat allotment will start from June 28, 2017. Through JoSAA 2017, the 23 IITs of the country will fill around 11,000 seats.
