JEE Advanced 2017 Exam Day Guidelines – JEE Advanced 2017 to be conducted by the examination conducting authority, IIT Madras on May 21 in pen and paper mode. JEE Advanced 2017 consist two compulsory papers; paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 will be held in the morning session and paper 2 to be conducted in the forenoon session. JEE Advanced 2017 will be held in 120 exam cities across the country and in 6 foreign countries. Reporting time for JEE Advanced- Before 7:45 am
Candidates are advised to reach the allotted JEE Advanced 2017 exam centre two hours in advance to complete all the pre- examination formalities on time. As per the instruction in the admit card, candidates must reach the examination hall before 7:45 pm. The JEE Advanced 2017 Paper I will start from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The paper II of JEE Advanced 2017 will be conducted in forenoon session beginning from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall after the commencement of exam in both the session. At the exam centre, candidates also have to undergo physical frisking and biometric verification. Therefore, to avoid rush, candidates must report at least 2 hours 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination.

JEE Advanced 2017 Dress Code
As per the guidelines defined by the examination conducting authority, candidates are advised to wear half sleeves. Candidates should not wear clothes with big buttons and they should wear open footwear like chappals and sandals. Also, candidates should avoid wearing ornaments such as Charms, veil, metallic items such as rings, bracelet, earrings, nose pin, pendants, necklace etc.
Things to be carried to JEE Advanced Exam Centre
On the exam day, candidates will require carrying the following materials along with them to the exam centre:
JEE Advanced 2017 admit card– It is mandatory for each and every candidate to carry the printed copy of the downloaded admit card to the exam hall. Candidates have to produce JEE Advanced admit card 2017 in the examination hall for verification. Candidates must verify all the details mentioned in the admit card. In case of any discrepancy, candidates should contact the Chairman of the respective zonal coordinating IIT for rectification. Without the hall ticket, no candidate will be allowed to appear for the entrance test. The original admit card will be issued at the exam hall during the paper 1 examination.
Stationary items– Candidates will be allowed to carry a black ball point pen with a transparent body, pencil and eraser to the examination hall.
Identity Proof– As per the instructions provided in JEE main admit card, candidates have to carry any of the following original photo identity cards:
- Aadhaar card
- School or College ID
- Driving license
- Pan card
Items not allowed in JEE Advanced 2017
Candidates are advised not to carry any baggage to the exam centre of JEE Advanced. No arrangement will be made at the centres for keeping any article/item/mobile/purse etc. of the candidates. If any candidate is found to be in possession of the following items, it will lead to the cancellation of the candidature.
Stationary Items– Abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, written or white (blank) paper/piece of paper, writing pad
Electronic Devices– mobile phones, smart phones, calculators, iPad, tabs, digital watches etc.
Other items– pouch, wallets, health band, handbag, goggles, eatables
How to mark response in JEE Advanced 2017 ORS
The answer sheet of each paper of JEE Advanced 2017 is a machine‐readable Optical Response Sheet (ORS). Candidates need to keep the following points in check at the time of marking the answers in JEE Advanced 2017 ORS
The ORS has two pages with the same lay out. The first page is machine readable. It is designed so as to leave impressions of the responses on the second page.
- Candidates must ensure not to separate or disturb the alignment of the two pages of the sheet
- For marking the answers in the ORS, candidates have to use black ball point pen only
- Candidates must mark the answers to all the questions on the first page of the ORS by darkening the appropriate bubble or bubbles
- Adequate pressure must be applied by the candidates while marking the answers to ensure that a proper impression is made on the second page of the ORS.
- At the end of the examination, the second page of the ORS will be handed over to the candidates by the invigilator
Check JEE Advanced question paper medium
The question paper will either be in English or Hindi. Candidates must check the medium of paper provided to them as per the language chosen by them at the time of applying for JEE Advanced. If the question paper is in a language other than the medium opted by the candidates, they should immediately report about the same to the invigilator.

On the exam day, candidates must develop a strategy to follow while attempting the section wise questions. For each paper, candidates will be given a total duration of three hours. Mark the answer to question wisely– Before attempting the questions, candidates are advised to go through the entire paper once and start with the section they are more comfortable with.
