The exam will be held online in 8 zonal centres across the country. The scores of the deserving candidates in GATE 2017 will be taken for admission to various M.Tech courses offered at IITs, NITs and CFTIs.

Last Minutes Preparation tips & tricks for GATE 2017

Below are some of the tips that the candidates can follow for their last minute preparation.

Focus on strong topics –Try to concentrate on all your strong topics that you will able to solve in the examination. Try to build strength on all the strong topics rather than wasting any time for weaker sections.

Do not start any new concept – It will be a wastage of time if you start any new topic at this moment. Do not start a new concept in this last minute, have a look on formulae and equations to get some idea of the problems related to it. If you start any new topic, it will lead to puzzlement as well as it keeps you away from all your strong topics that you are can attempt in the examination.

Revision – Gather all your notes such as a list of important topics and subtopics in the Syllabus of GATE 2017 that have been important as per the previous year exam trends and a list of formulae & shortcuts. Keep revising these and just focus on your strong topics so that you would be able to solve the questions from these in the test and not go wrong in any way.

Make a plan to attempt all the sections – For this, you need to know the question paper structure, go through it and make your strategy to attempt all questions from each section. It is advisable not to stick to one question for a long time, it will lead to nervousness at the end. If are confused, leave it and start a new question with a fresh mind. Like this, you can cover all the sections.

Take last few mock tests – All the candidates are expected that they are familiar with the computer-based test. To understand the nature of questions and solve them within a given time Mock Tests are always helpful. At this last minute, take two to three mock test and try to go through already attempted mock tests to analyse and understand the mistakes that you have committed at the time of answering. Try to use the convenient method that you know to solve the problems for the specific topic.

Do not study late at night – It is suggested that candidates need to sleep early during these last few days. Good sleep will help your brain to get rest. It also depends on the person. Some people cannot study late night. They should not forcefully try this. It will affect their health. Also, some students need more sleep and some less. You should listen to your body. If your body is comfortable with late night studies you should do it. But do not comprise, this will lead all your preparation in vain. Above all get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every day.

Keep calm and take stress busters – In between studies, candidates must take stress busters such as going for walks, exercises, meditation and doing all the little things that make you feel happy. This will make your stay stress-free. Most importantly, don’t get panic and Just be Calm. Panic will only lower the speed and the thinking ability.
