Eligibility for HAL Recruitment through GATE 2018
The eligibility criteria required to be fulfilled by candidates for HAL recruitment through GATE 2018 are given below.
Nationality– Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for HAL recruitment through GATE 2018.
Age requirement– The upper age limit for candidates belonging to General category is 28 years as on February 2, 2018. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years in respect of reserved category, PwD, Ex- servicemen and Jammu & Kashmir domiciled candidates. Educational qualification – Candidates must have passed full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or its equivalent examination from Institutes/ Universities recognized by appropriate statutory authorities in the country. The minimum qualifying marks for General/ OBC-NCL candidates is 65% while SC/ST/PWD candidates must secure a minimum 55% marks in aggregate.
Candidates currently in the final year or semester may also apply, provided they fulfil all other eligibility requirements of HAL recruitment through GATE 2018.
Note: Candidates have to submit documentary proof of having passed the qualifying examination with minimum prescribed percentage at the time of Interview. Candidates should not have any active backlog papers as on the date of Interview.

HAL Recruitment through GATE- Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected for HAL recruitment only on the basis of their performance in GATE 2018. For HAL recruitment through GATE 2018, candidates qualifying the entrance examination will be shortlisted for personal interview. Applicants will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:5 to the number of vacancies in each discipline/ post and category. The final selection of candidates will be done by assigning weightage of 85% marks for GATE 2018 scores (out of 100) and 15% marks for personal interview.

HAL Recruitment through GATE- Documents required
At the time of interview candidates have to produce the following documents:
- No objection certificate– Candidates employed in Government/ Semi – Government/ Central/ State Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertakings have to produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview from their employer.
- Caste certificate– Reserved category candidates are required to submit caste certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority, at the time of Interview.
HAL 2018 Placement and Emoluments through GATE 2018
- Training period– Selected candidates will undergo training for 52 weeks in Production, Overhaul or Services Divisions / Research & Design Centres / Offices.
- Training programmes– The training programme comprises of various training modules including theoretical & on-the-job training at various places.
- Stipend during training– During the training period, trainees will receive a Stipend of Rs. 16400.
- Pay scale– On successful completion of the training, trainees would be absorbed as Engineers in the Grade-II Scale of Pay of Rs. 16,400-40,500.
- Allowances– On absorption, candidates will be eligible for basic pay, variable dearness allowance, other perks & allowances under cafeteria system, company accommodation/ house rent allowance, performance related pay (variable pay), leave, medical facilities etc.
Service Agreement Bond for HAL 2018 Recruitment
Selected candidates have to execute a service agreement bond to serve HAL for a period of 5 years (excluding the training period). In case of breach of the service agreement during the training period or after absorption as Engineer, candidates are liable to reimburse the actual training expenses (including recruitment expenses, all the remuneration paid and expenses incurred during the training period), subject to a maximum of Rs. 5,00,000.
