Factors that determine cutoff of GATE 2016

Candidates may note that the GATE cutoff is not declared by the GATE authorities. There is no common counselling for IITs whereas CCMT is the counselling common to all the NITs for their M.Tech programmes. The GATE 2016 Cutoff is listed IIT wise as each IIT holds it’s own admission process therefore the cutoffs differ for each branch and each category. Factors that determine the GATE cutoffs are the number of seats available for that discipline/ specialization or branch, category as well as the number of applicants likewise. The difficulty levels of the GATE papers also make a difference to the cutoffs as the tougher the paper, the lower the cutoffs.
