TANCET 2017 – Anna University has conducted TANCET 2017 on March 26 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2017 was held in 15 exam centres across the state of Tamil Nadu. Through TANCET 2017, the candidates will be admitted to various M.Tech courses at approximately 300 government or government aided, private and self-financing engineering colleges in the state. The candidates will be selected based on the scores obtained in TANCET 2017. However, GATE qualified candidates need not appear in TANCET 2017 provided their GATE paper is no XE or XL. Such candidates have to appear in TANCET 2017. The result of TANCET 2017 has been announced on April 11. The result of TANCET 2017 has been announced online. The candidates can check it from this page, by entering the E-mail Id and Password. Through the result, the rank of the candidate in TANCET will be announced and on the basis of it, admission will be granted.
Score and Rank of TANCET 2017
The Result of TANCET can be checked by entering the User Name and Password. The score and the rank of the candidates will be announced through the result. The candidates will be able to download their mark sheet, 10 days after the announcement of the result.
The final marks of the candidates will be normalised. For this, the below-mentioned formula will be used. Candidates should note that the rank will be determined after the normalisation of the scores.
Normalized Score = 40 + (10/s) (r-m)

TANCET 2017 Counselling
The counselling of TANCET is called as TANCA. It is also organised by the Anna University and the seats to the candidates are allocated on the basis of TANCET or GATE score. However, the preference of the students is also considered during allocation of seat.

The application form for TANCET 2017 was available online from January 29 to February 28, 2017. The application fee for the exam was Rs. 500 but the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and SCA category just needed to remit Rs. 250 as TANCET Application Fee.
The process to submit TANCET 2017 Application Form is as below:

- In the displayed window, click on the ‘New User? Register’ button.
Registration: After this, the candidates will be required to register by entering Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Email ID, and Password. When sure that the details entered are correct, click on the ‘Register’ button.
Login: On successful registration, the candidates will be directed to the Login page. There the candidates will have to access the portal by entering the User Id (same as registered e-mail id) and Password.
Filling the Application Form: Next, the candidates will have to read all the instructions and click on ‘Proceed’ button to fill the Application Form of TANCET 2017. In the application form, candidates will be required to enter Personal Details, Course Details, Address, Upload Photograph. The photograph to be uploaded should be a recent one and the size of it must be 20 KB to 30 Kb. The candidates must ensure that it should be in JPG/JPEG format only.
Fee Payment: On filling the details successfully, the candidates will be asked to submit the application fee. The amount for TANCET is as mentioned above. However, it should be noted that the fee relaxation is only applicable for SC/ST/SCA candidates of Tamil Nadu. Also, if the candidates will apply for more than one course they need to remit additional Rs. 500 or Rs. 250, as applicable.
Confirmation: The payment of fee is the last step for TANCET 2017 Registration. The system will generate an Application Number when the form will be submitted properly. The candidates are required to secure the application properly. It is advised that candidates produce a copy of the application confirmation page. It is not be sent to Anna University. However, it might be required in counselling and admission process.
TANCET 2017 Category of Candidates
GATE Category – Those who withhold GATE 2017, 2016, and 2015 scorecard and have scored the minimum qualifying marks for the assistantship, in the respective discipline. These candidates are exempted from appearing for TANCET 2017.
However, it should be noted that the candidates who secured qualifying marks in GATE Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) will have to apply for TANCET as well.
TANCET Category – Those who will apply and appear for TANCET 2017.
Sponsored Category – These are the candidates, who will be sponsored by the Government aided educational institutes and organisations. The candidates will be required to apply for TANCET 2017.
Other State Candidates – These are those candidates, who do not belong to the state of Tamil Nadu. Since last year, other state candidates can apply for TANCET. However, the eligibility criteria for them is yet to be announced.
The eligibility criteria of TANCET 2017 is as below:
- A candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree in B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch, from a recognised institute. However, the aggregate score of the candidates should not be less than 50% (45% for reserved category candidates).
- Candidates should have a master’s degree, from a recognised institute. It should be in a relevant branch of Science/Arts. Along with it, candidates must have also cleared 10+2 and AMIE.
- Candidates with 10+3 years diploma may also apply. However, the diploma must have awarded by State Board of Technical Education and with it, AMIE certificate is also required.
- GATE 2017 qualifiers are exempted from the examination.
- However, candidates who qualified Engineering Science (XE) or Life Science (XL) paper of GATE 2017 must appear for the TANCET.
Note: The other state candidates can also apply for the exam. However, during the admissions, the eligibility criteria of the institute is also to be fulfilled.

The TANCET Admit Card has been released by the Anna University on March 14, 2017, in the online mode. To download the admit card, candidates have to enter their user ID and password in the login page. TANCET 2017 Hall Ticket is a very important document. It will be required at the exam hall, for receiving the permission to enter exam hall, and during the admission. At the time of admission, candidates will have to submit an Admission Application Form. In it, candidates will have to mention the Registration Number, which will be allocated through the TANCET Admit Card.
It is advised that the candidates secure their TANCET Hall Ticket 2017 properly. However, if it is lost or damaged then the candidates may acquire a duplicate hall ticket by writing a letter to the address below. Along with the letter, candidates will also have to remit Rs. 100 through the Demand Draft. The candidates must mention their Name, Registration Number, and Exam Centre in the letter.

The exam pattern for TANCET 2017 has been explained below:
- The exam will be held in offline mode.
- It will be a 2 hour paper.
- There will be three sections in the examination.
- Question paper will be divided into three sections.
- Section I will mandatory
- The total number of questions in the examination will be 115.
- All the questions will be of multiple choice type, for which 4 answers choices will be given.
- Total marks of the exam will be 100 and for each incorrect answer, negative marking of 1/3 marks will be done.
