The application form will be available online within the specified dates and will be shortlisted on the basis of their GATE 2017 scores only. Eligibility Criteria for POWERGRID Recruitment through GATE 2017

The criteria of eligibility which the applicants should meet for POWERGRID recruitment is as below:

Nationality: Candidate should be a national of India

Age: Candidates should be more than 18 years and less than 28 years old, as on December 31, 2016. Relaxation applicable for reserved category is as below:

  • 3 years for OBC-NCL
  • 5 years for SC/ST
  • 10 years for PwD
  • As per the norms of Govt. of India for J&K Domicile/Ex-Servicemen/Victims of Riots

GATE Score: Candidates should have qualified in GATE 2017 and must have a valid GATE scorecard. 

Education Qualification: Candidates must have a full-time B.Tech/B.E degree from a recognised University/Institute. Candidates with equivalent qualifications by professional societies like AMIE are also eligible. Candidates who have enrolled for AMIE/Other BE./B.Tech equivalent qualifications of professional societies after May 31, 2013 must note that their eligibility shall be subject to recognition of the degree by AICTE/MHRD.

Discipline and GATE Paper Details: The candidate should have studied any of the below mentioned disciplines and must have appeared for the respective GATE paper 2017.

The application form or POWERGRID recruitment via GATE 2017 will only be available online, from February 15. The link to fill it will be available on this page. The process to submit it is as below:

  • Click on the application form link here.
  • Enter personal, educational, and other required information. All the details must be exactly as mentioned in the GATE 2017 Application Form.
  • Submit application number and registration number of GATE, as mentioned in the admit card.
  • Before the final submit check details submitted in the application form.
  • Check e-mail id for the confirmation mail. Save it for future reference.
  • Keep the login credentials safe. If shortlisted, candidates will have to log in to download their call letters

Selection Procedure for Executive Trainee in POWERGRID

  • Applicants will be first shortlisted on the basis of GATE 2017 score (normalized marks out of 100 in GATE 2017, in the corresponding paper)
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called category-wise for Group Discussion & Personal Interview

What to Carry to the POWERGRID Interview?
The following documents are mandatory and will be required for verification for the POWERGRID interview. Candidates must carry the originals as well as a set of copies. Candidates are also advised to carry some photographs similar to the ones used in the GATE 2017 Application Form.

Shortlisted applicants must qualify in the Personal Interview in order to be considered for empanelment. The qualifying % in interview for different categories are given below:

Service Bond: Selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond to successfully complete the prescribed training period and thereafter serve POWERGRID for a period of at least three years. General/OBC (NCL) candidates will have to execute a bond of Rs. 1,00,000/- while SC/ST/PwD candidates will have to execute the bond for Rs 50,000/-
