As per the new pattern introduced for admission in IITs, the marks obtained by a candidate in the board exams will be given 40% weightage while calculating the final merit. Now, the IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff will vary for different boards. This variance is going to be a disadvantage for the students as the variance of IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff will be up to 20%.
The earlier eligibility criteria for admission in IITs used to be a minimum aggregate of 60% in the Board Exams.
According to new pattern, IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff will vary as follows for different boards for the students of General Category:
Uttar Pradesh: 65%
Madhya Pradesh: 64%
Tamil Nadu Board: 78.1%
West Bengal Board: 58%
Also, there will be two exams under the new scheme and the State Education Boards have to ensure that they declare their results prior 10th of June 2013 so that the IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff can be calculated.
The preliminary data given by seven boards shows that to be in the top 20 Percentile window of IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff, the marks which must be obtained in the board exam will vary.
This variance in IIT JEE 2013 Cutoff will be for the General Candidates as the effect of this variance will be much less pronounced on the reserved category candidates.
