Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, is currently addressing the Lok Sabha, however, live updated of Union Budget 2017 are already flooding social working networking websites like twitter, facebook etc. Some of the most striking features of the new budget, which are set to reshape the education platform in India, are as below:
National Examination Agency to be Introduced
It has been decided that for admission in IIT and Medical institutes a new authority will be formed. Currently, CBSE, IIT, AICTE, etc are responsible for conducting the entrance examinations in the nation. However, after the introduction of National Testing Service, it will all come under one umbrella.
“We propose to set up a National Testing Agency as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing agency to conduct all entrance exams to higher education,” said Jaitley
CBSE Not to Conduct Entrance Exams
If the former happens, then CBSE will not be conducting JEE Main, NEET, CTET etc.
“This would free the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the All India Council for Technical Education from administrative responsibility, so that they can focus more on academics”, explained Jaitley
350 Online Courses to Start Soon
It has also been announced that 350 courses will be started online. To assist candidates upto 1000 skill centres will be opened. Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) was launched last year. However, this year it will be linked to 32 educational channels.
