After Declaration of JEE Advanced 2013 Result, Chairman of IIT Delhi R K Shevgaonkar released the following statement: "For the very first time in the IIT system, two women have got ranks in the top 10. Aditi Ladha from the National Capital Region secured the 6th position and Sibala Madhuri from Chennai Zone secured the 8th rank."
Aditi, who belongs to Ratlam, got 320 out of total marks and Sibala, from Tirupati, scored 314 out of total marks of JEE Advanced 2013 Results.
IIT official released that girls had done better than past given that only 11 % cleared for the IIT-JEE. For the record, the Indian Institute of Technology entrance examinations were held in two stages, the IIT-Joint Entrance Exam Main and IIT-Joint Entrance Exam Advanced.
"Though the percentage clearing has dropped a little bit but women have done far better than past," said a highly-ranked official of IIT.
As per the analysis of JEE Advanced 2013 Result, of the total close to Twenty-one Thousand candidates clearing for the examinations, around twenty four hundred were women.
For the girls among top ten of JEE Advanced Results, its been the reward for years of hard work and intense study.
After 2 years of extreme hard work, Aditi was finally able to get her dreams. To prepare for the IIT JEE exam, Aditi has stayed away from her family for over a year in a IIT making town of Kota, Rajasthan, which has become the hub of coaching centres. Aditi said, "My parents were always supportive of my dream and allowed me to leave my town Ratlam. I am really happy and proud after the results. I feel especially excited to be one of the few who made history in the IITs."
8th-ranked Sibala is overwhelmed at her performance in the JEE Advanced 2013 Result. Sibala says that her success plan was that she gave equal time to all subjects.
"I focused on my subjects," said Sibala. She said, "When you're aiming for something, Give your 100 per cent focus on it, Not Less than that" addressing all the aspirants of JEE Advanced.
The 16-year old science student Sibala of Sri Chaitanya Narayana Junior College hopes to become an engineer in future and contribute to country. Sibala developed a keen interest in technology from the time she was in Class X. Meanwhile, the first 5 positions in JEE Advanced 2013 Result were bagged by boys, prominent among them was Pallerla Sai Sandeep Reddy, an Andhra Pradesh student.
Pallerla Sai Sandeep Reddy scored 332 out of 360. Indian Institute of Technology officials said this year the Commerce Capital Mumbai performed the best with the highest number of candidates clearing for IIT-JEE Advanced - 3,693 - being called for counselling. Mumbai was followed by the Indian Institute of technology Madras zone with 3,293 candidates and then Indian Institute of Technology Delhi zone from where 3,030 candidates selected for counselling on the basis of JEE Advanced 2013 Result.
The candidates from National Capital who made it to the first 5 is Kartikeya Gupta. A resident of Netaji Nagar, Kartikeya Gupta says he is over the moon when he got the news that he had secured the fourth rank in IIT-Joint Entrance Exams.
These toppers numbered among 1,15,971 students who appeared for the IIT-Joint Entrance Exam (advanced) of which above twenty thousand qualified for the examinations. IIT Officials said that 14, 336 candidates are invited for counselling which will be held in 3 phases on basis of rank in JEE Advanced 2013 Result.
The I phase will be held between July 4 to July 8. The II phase will be held between July 10 and July 11 and the III phase shall be held between July 14 and July 15.
Going for statistical analysis of JEE Advanced 2013 Result, In 2013, the total number of seats across Indian Institute of technology is 9,885 with an increase of two hundred seats from the past academic year. "This is because of the new Indian Institute of Technology opening up and starting new courses," said Authorities of IITs.
The officials at IIT-Joint Entrance Exams also said that in current year the gap between candidates eligible for the exam and the count registered was more than any year before.
