Reporting Accelerates After AIEEE 2011 2nd counseling

MANGALORE: Reporting by students to institutions against seats allotted in the second round by Central Counseling Board (CCB) AIEEE 2011 went up considerably at the end of the second round on Sunday. While the overall average reporting against seats allotted in the first round was 64%, in the second round, the average went up to 85% with NIT, Meghalaya, recording highest reporting percentage of 98. It was 90% in case of NITK, Surathkal.

CCB coordinator G Srinikethan told TOI that among southern NITs, reporting percentage was least at NIT Warangal with reporting percentage of 80%. Reporting for NIT Delhi was 60% and most of the new NITs in North East region attracted good percentage of students. The next round of allotment will be done on July 13. During the first round, reporting in case of southern NITs ranged from 35-50% while in northern NITs, it was 60-80%.

The second round allotment was announced on July 4 and reporting against this allotment commenced on July 6. The vacant seats after second round of allotment was 174 as against 124 at the end of round I. Majority of these vacancies are in the NITs in the North-East and North such as Agartala (51), Mizoram (32), Jalandhar (13), and Calicut (15). This is due to non- availability of candidates in particular state against particular reserved category.
