Last year seats were blocked by the higher rankers due to which multiple rounds happened in AIEEE counseling as there was no risk of money or allotted seat to participate in newer rounds of counseling. So this time AIEEE committee has made some changes in the procedure. Major changes:

• The students who have not been allotted any seat by the 3^rd round will participate for 4^th round.
• If a student who has already been allotted a seat in any institute wants to participate in the 4^th round of counseling he will have to give up his seat that he has been allotted by the 3^rd round of counseling.
• If a student does not want to give up he can only participate for the branch up gradation in the institute where he has been allotted a seat only in the 4^th round.

This design has definitely decreased number of rounds compared to last year counseling but has introduced a major error-where a lower ranker can get better option than higher ranker.

Let us analyze HOW???

Participating students in the 4^th round of counseling:

Type1: Those who have not been allotted any seat (majority will be of lower rankers)

Type 2: Those who take risk of their allotted seat (again majority will be of lower rankers, very few students who have good options will participate)

Type 3: Those who apply for branch up gradation (almost everyone else-if interested)

Case 1:

Now suppose some seats in CSE/ECE etc gets vacant at NIT Trichy for the 4^th round  and similarly in other top NITs who have the students with highest ranks, these seats will definitely be grabbed by the Type 3 students (mostly) this will create lapsed seats in the lower branches of top NITs.

But now who has the chance to get these lapsed seats, Type 1 and Type 2 students who are mainly students with low ranks. So finally we will see lower rankers has entered top NITs and good rankers in other NITs  could not grab top NITs seats as they can only upgrade  within the allotted institute.

Case 2:

Let us take the same case that some seats in CSE/ECE etc gets vacant at NIT Trichy for the 4^th round  and similarly in other top NITs who have the students with highest ranks.

And we analyzed that these seats will be grabbed by Type 3 students mainly, that means students with higher branches of other good NITs who have better ranks than students in the lower branches of top NITs will not get a chance to participate for the top branches of top NITs as they can only upgrade  within the allotted institute.

Case3:

This case considers 5^th round of counseling. As we know 27^th July is the last date when you can leave your seat and get your fee refund after 27^th your complete fee will be forfeited if you give up your seat to participate in the 5^th round.

Only those students can participate in the 5^th round who have not been allotted anything till 4^th round and these would be lower rankers mainly.

Now if there are vacancies for the 5^th round these will be grabbed by lower rankers mostly and 5^th round is expected to have good number of vacancies as it is happening after 27^th July .

Conclusion:

AIEEE should take action and must allow everyone atleast once after complete vacancy like in case of 5th round otherwise its  injustice for good rank
