JEE Main 2017 Rank ListJEE Main 2017 Rank List: The rank list of JEE Main 2017 paper 2 has been declared on May 26. Candidates who have appeared for JEE Main exam for B.Arch/B.planning programme on April 2, 2017, can now check their ranks along with the result. JEE Main rank list 2017 for paper 1 has already been published on April 27. Candidates can check JEE Main 2017 rank list by submitting their JEE Main 2017 roll number and date of birth. The rank list comprises of All India Rank (AIR) and All India category rank. The JEE Main rank list also displays the eligibility status of candidates who qualified for JEE Advanced 2017. Unlike previous years, JEE Main 2017 rank list has been prepared based on the score obtained in the entrance exam. Class 12 marks have not been taken into account while preparing the rank list. Only the All India rank obtained by the candidates is used for admission to the NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, SFIs etc. while all other ranks are for information purposes only. Moreover, around 2,20,000 top JEE Main rank holders were shortlisted to appear for JEE Advanced held on May 21 for admission into 11,000 B.Tech seats. Instructions to download JEE Main 2017 Rank List

To download the rank list of JEE Main 2017 for both paper 1 and paper 2, candidates have to follow the steps given below:

  • Click on the link provided above on this page.
  • Enter JEE Main 2017 roll number and date of birth
  • After entering the details correctly, click on the ‘Submit’ button
  • The rank list of JEE Main 2017 is displayed on the screen
  • Check the ranks, download, take a print out and keep it safe for future reference

JEE Main 2017 Rank List Highlights

  • The rank list provided by JAB will be used for admission NITs, IIITs, GFTIs. JoSAA will not make any changes in the rank list even if two or more candidates have the same rank.
  • On the basis of JEE Main 2017 rank list, candidates will be selected for admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning programmes offered 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFTIs
  • The JEE Main rank list 2017 of Paper 1 has been published along with the result of JEE Main. JAB has declared the rank list of paper 2 on May 26, 2017
  • Unlike previous years, while calculating the ranks of JEE Main 2017, no weightage has been given  to the class 12 marks
  • Apart from securing a rank in JEE Main 2017, candidates must secure at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination conducted by the respective Boards to be eligible for admission at the IITs/NITs/IIITs/IIEST and GFTIs. For candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the qualifying marks in class 12 is 65%.

Details mentioned in JEE Main Rank List

The rank list of JEE Main 2017 displays the subject wise score of the candidates, JEE Main All India rank 2017, category wise rank along with details like their roll number, date of birth, Father’s and Mother’s name, category, state code of eligibility etc. The qualifying status of candidates for appearing in JEE Advanced 2017 will also be mentioned on the rank list. Total Set of JEE Main 2017 Rank List

JAB has prepared the rank list for all the candidates who have appeared in JEE Main 2017. For admission to the NITs/IIITs/IIEST and other GFTIs, the rank list has been prepared in the following way:

  • A total number of eight JEE Main rank list is prepared for JEE Main 2017 paper 1 on the basis of performance of candidates in the entrance examination
  • Another set of a total number of eight rank list is prepared for candidates who have appeared in JEE Main 2017 Paper 2
  • The rank list is prepared as per the category of the candidates. The rank list is prepared on the basis of the following category:

Tie Breaking Mechanism of JEE Main 2017 All India Rank

In case, two or more candidates obtained equal marks in paper 1 of JEE Main 2017, the following rules has been applied by JAB to decide the rank of the candidates for admission into the participating institutes of JEE Main 2017 other than the IITs.

JEE Main 2017 Rank List for admission to B.E/B.Tech

In the institutions other than IITs, JAB has adopted the mechanism in the order mentioned below to decide the inter- se merit of such candidates

  • Candidates securing higher marks in Mathematics have been given better rank
  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Physics have been given better rank
  • The ratio of positive and negative marks obtained by the candidates in JEE Main have been taken into account. Candidates with higher absolute value of the ratio have been given higher rank
  • In case the tie does not break, the same rank has been given to the candidates

JEE Main 2017 Rank List for admission to B.Arch./B.Planning

For Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning) of JEE Main 2017, the following rules have been taken into consideration to break the tie:

  • Candidates with better marks in the Aptitude Test have been given higher rank
  • If this did not break the tie, candidates obtaining higher marks in the drawing test have been given better rank
  • In case, the resolution did not take place, the ratio of positive and negative marks obtained by the candidates in Paper 2 of JEE Main 2017 have been taken into account. Candidates with higher absolute value of ratio have been given better rank
  • After applying the criteria mentioned above, if the tie still existed, similar rank has been allotted to the candidates

JEE Main 2017 Opening and Closing Rank

As the JEE Main rank list 2017 for both paper 1 and paper 2 have been released, JoSAA will now publish the opening and closing rank for various engineering programmes in the NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. As per the rank list, approximately 24000 seats will be filled. The JEE Main 2016 opening and closing rank of IIITs and NITs is given below in the table:

JEE Main 2017 Cutoff

The cutoff of JEE Main 2017 has been made available by CBSE. Based on the cutoff, candidates have been declared qualified in JEE Main. The cutoff has been used while preparing the JEE Main rank list and for shortlisting students for JEE Advanced 2017.  JoSAA will conduct the counselling of JEE Main on the basis of JEE Main 2017 All India rank. There will be a total number of 6 rounds of counselling.
