The pen and paper based exam of JEE Main 2017 exam has begun at 9.30 am today, on April 2. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which is conducting JEE Main 2017, has asked candidates to strictly follow the exam guidelines and instruction for “smooth and fair conduct of the examination”. This national level undergraduate engineering entrance test is being conducted across 113 test cities in India and outside India. The JEE Main 2017 Paper 1 is conducted in morning session from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm for B.E./B. Tech programmes. While JEE main 2017 paper 2 is being conducted in forenoon session from 2 pm to 5 pm for Arch and B. Planning programmes.
As per the examination instructions CBSE has asked candidates to reach exam centres 2 hours in advance to the entry closing time the test. The closing of entry time into the exam centre is 9:30 am. However, the exam authority has directed candidates to reach the exam centres at as early as 7:30 am, exactly 2 hours in advance to the entry closure.
A total of 11, 98,989 candidates have registered for JEE Main 2017 for admission B.Tech seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). JEE Main 2017 score will be basis for admission to 24,000 undergraduate engineering seats in 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFITs. Based on the JEE Main 2017 score, CBSE will also select top 2,20,000 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2017 scheduled to be held on May 21 for admission to around 11000 B.Tech seats.
Candidates who have appeared in entrance test can download the JEE Main 2017 answer key after the completion of exam. Based on the answer key from coaching institutes candidates can calculate their score and know their chances for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFITs or for appearing in JEE Advanced. The official answer of JEE Main 2017 will be released by CBSE on April 18, 2017.
The result cum score of All India Rank of JEE Main 2017 will be released on April 27 based on which counselling will be conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for allotment of B.Tech seats in NITs, IIITs and GFITs.
