Ananye Agarwal, the Delhi boy who had secured third rank in JEE Main 2017, has once again bagged the third rank – this time in JEE Advanced 2017 exam. Coming from a family of doctors, Ananye was always more inclined towards engineering and wanted to pursue computer science. He wants to turn his passion towards computers into his profession by pursuing computer engineering from IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay. Ananye, who secured 331 marks in the exam, attributes his success to regular studies, hard work, and love and support of his family members. In a conversation with Entrance Corner, Ananye shared his preparation strategy and the key factors that helped him clinch the All India Rank 3 in JEE Advanced 2017 exam.

Entrance Corner – Congratulations on your success in JEE Advanced? How are you planning to celebrate your success?
Ananye Agarwal – Thank you. I haven’t planned any big celebrations. I’ll just spend time with my family or go out with my friends.
Entrance Corner – Tell us something about your family and school
Ananye Agarwal – My family is based in Delhi. Both my parents are doctors. My father works in the Paediatrics Department of AIIMS, while my mother is a Dentist in Maulana Azad Institute of Medical Sciences. My younger brother is studying in school. I did my schooling from Hope Hall Foundation in RK Puram in Delhi.
Entrance Corner – Did you take any coaching? What was your preparation strategy for JEE Advanced?
Ananye Agarwal – I took coaching classes from FIITJEE Delhi (South) Centre. I thoroughly revised everything that was taught in the class. Besides, I took the test series of my coaching centre regularly. The test series helped me a lot during the preparation phase. I made sure that there was the right balance between JEE preparations and board exam preparations.
Entrance Corner – Which IIT you want to join? Which course do you want to study?
Ananye Agarwal – I’ll either opt for IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay. As far as the course is concerned, Computer Science is what I want to study. Even though my parents are doctors, I was always more interested in computers.
Entrance Corner – What do you think was the key factor behind your success in JEE Advanced exam?
Ananye Agarwal – I kept my cool and stayed calm on the exam day. I think it’s important for the students to keep the anxiety at bay and not to get too worked up on the day of the exam. The support of my family also helped me a lot.
Entrance Corner – What are your hobbies and interests?
Ananye Agarwal – I like to play lawn tennis. There is a tennis court in my colony where I regularly play lawn tennis with my friends. It helps me relax and stay focused. I also like to play guitar, which I had learned a few years back.
Entrance Corner – Do you have any role models?
Ananye Agarwal – My parents are my role models.
Entrance Corner – Are you active on Social Media? Did you turn to any recreational activity before appearing for the exam?
Ananye Agarwal – No. I don’t use Facebook or any other social media platform. I spent some time with my friends and went for regular walks to stay calm.
Entrance Corner – Do you want to give any advice to future JEE Advanced aspirants?
Ananye Agarwal – There is no substitute for regular studies. I want to tell the future JEE Aspirants that it is important to not to miss your studies. To crack the JEE Advanced exam, the students should study regularly for 2 years. Secondly, It is important to focus on the basics. In JEE exam, most of the questions are based on the basic concepts. So, don’t get the basics wrong.
Entrance Corner – What are your future plans? What do you want to do after engineering?
Ananye Agarwal – I haven’t thought about it yet. For now, I’m only focusing on the engineering.
