GATE Analysis 2017

Before knowing the segregated analysis of each paper, let’s have a look at the general GATE 2017 Exam Analysis.

  • GATE 2017 was a Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Candidates have 3 hours to attempt all the questions in the examination.
  • There were total 60 questions, which were of multiple choice and numerical answer type.
  • Both MCQs and NATs were of 1 and 2 marks.
  • The negative marking was only applicable in MCQs. For 1 mark question, negative marking of 1/3 marks will be done, whereas, for 2 marks question 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answer.
  • The exam was of total 100 marks.
  • As expected virtual calculator was provided for assistance.
  • With the help of the question palette, candidates could easily navigate between the questions.
  • Candidates without the admit card were not allowed to take GATE 2017.
  • Candidates lacking required document for the provisionally accepted application form were also not allowed to sit for the exam.

GATE 2017 Analysis for ME

The distribution of MCQs and NAT was almost even in all the sections. From engineering mathematics and ME, 55 questions were asked. These were for 85 marks. However, the remaining 15 marks were for General Aptitude questions. The table below will provide more clarity.

GATE 2017 Analysis for AR

There were only two sections in the exam. From AR, candidates had to attempt 55 questions or 85 marks. Whereas, from GA, 10 questions or 15 marks were to be solved.
