GATE 2017– What to carry and what not to carry on the exam day? The month of February has begun leaving only a few days for the commencement of GATE 2017. IIT Roorkee will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering on February 4, 5, 11 & 12, 2017. As the D-Day is approaching nearer, aspirants are preparing in full swing for it. However, candidates must also pay attention to the requirements for the examination day. What to Carry for GATE 2017?
Candidates of GATE 2017 must ensure to carry the following items without any fail to the exam centre:
GATE 2017 Admit Card: This is one of the most important items that candidates require carrying to the exam centre. Without it, no candidate will be allowed to sit for the test. Candidates must download their respective admit card and take a coloured print – out of the same. The admit card can be obtained till February 12, 2017, i.e. the last day of the engineering test. Identity Proof: Along with the admit card, it is mandatory for every candidate to carry an ID Proof. They must ensure that the Identity proof has not expired. Candidates have to carry any of the following valid ID proof:
- Employee ID Card
- Driving License
- Aadhaar Card
- Pan Card
- Voter Card
- College ID
Important Note: For Foreign candidates, only their Passport/Government Issued ID/Valid Employee ID or College ID will be considered as valid to authenticate their identity at the exam centre.
Documents for Provisionally Accepted Application Form: Candidates whose application form is provisionally accepted have to carry the required documents to the examination hall. The documents that such candidates need to carry will be informed through email.
Print out of the Acknowledgement Page: Candidates must carry the print out of the acknowledgement page along with them.
Blue/Black Pen: In the exam centre, applicants may carry a pen to do rough work. Candidates can also wear a simple wrist watch without any calculation device.
What not to carry for GATE 2017?
The following items are not permitted to be brought with the candidates inside the examination hall. If any of the candidate is found to be in possession of any of the forbidden items, he/she will be disqualified.
- Mobile Phones
- Physical calculator
- Wrist watch with calculation facility
- Other electronic gadgets
- Any sort of paper
- Any personal belongings as there will be no arrangements made for the safekeeping of their belongings.
What will be provided in GATE 2017?
The following items will be provided to the candidates at the examination hall:
Virtual Scientific Calculator: As GATE 2017 will be held in the online mode, candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator which must be used to answer all the questions.
White Paper: Candidates will be provided with a scribble pad to do rough work. Candidates have to return the pad after the examination gets over.
Facility of Scribe/Reader: Candidates who have a disability of minimum 40% will be provided with the facility of Scribe/Reader. Candidates have to request the Examination authority for the same. They will be allowed to meet the scribe a day before the examination to verify if they are suitable.
Magnified Question Paper: Candidates belonging to the PwD category who are visually challenged will be provided with a “magnified question paper”. They will require contacting the GATE Institute representative through the invigilator once they reach the examination centre.
Important Points to note for the D-Day
GATE 2017 will be conducted in two sessions. The morning session will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and the afternoon session will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Candidates must follow the instructions given below on the day of the examination:
- Candidates must reach the Exam Centre of GATE 2017 at least 60 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination hall. After the exam begins, no student will be allowed to enter the exam hall.
- Candidates will be permitted to login in the system 20 minutes before the examination starts. This time must be utilised wisely to read the instructions and understand about the online mode of exam.
- All the students must take their seat in the exam hall 35 minutes before the exam begins.
- No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall until the end of the examination in a session.
