How To Solve Chemistry Problems

Whatever be the format of the questions in the IITJEE chemistry, all the questions can be put in the three fundamental categories viz., traditional questions (these could be answered simply using algorithmic strategies), the quantitative questions requiring a certain amount of calculations and the questions with no mathematics content but which require a solid understanding of the chemistry concepts for their correct solution.

Different types of problems need to be tackled differently .You need to be skilled in these.

The techniques of dimensional analysis could be applied in a variety of conversion problems. The complex units could be converted using dimensional analysis as well a 3-step problem solving approach in solving a chemistry problem could be like this:
  • Analyze the problem - list all the knows and unknowns
  • Calculate - now solve for the unknowns
  • Evaluate - does the result make any sense?

However, there are a number of complex problems which may require more than 3 steps.

Further there are comprehension problems which test your ability to grasp the things fast and analyze them using relational approach.

ok so u need to imporve ur chemistry right?...
for that follow first NCERT then ARIHANT ...then anyother book like OP Tondon ,P bahadur etc
these books will be sufficent...BUT DONT NEGLECT NCERT ...DO THAT BOOK THOROUGHLY>>>

try to give some more time to chem ..in these 2 months...like for eg..3 hours for chem 21/2 hours for maths and physics..and if ur a dropper then dont worry ur concepts are clear..and u just need to brush them up...

there lot of time man...and i m sure u will crack JEE ...but dont forget chemistry...giv e equal importance to all 3 subjects
cheers :-)
