How to Deal with Parental Pressure

Parents expect a lot from you and why won’t they? They are paying for your education and even supporting you at every steps. So its their complete right to expect from you. You just can’t shy away from their expectation.

Many a times students get pressurized by their parents expectations. Lets consider a situation where you mom says
“Beta is bar tu zaroor acche marks lana warna tere papa bahut dukhi ho jayenge”
“Beta agar tu pappu se kam marks laya toh teri khair nahin”
“Is baar to mera Beta jaroor IIT crack karega”

These are few of those common dialogues which parents repeat in-front of their children. But they are not able to understand that it creates certain amount of pressure on the student which can affect the student in good as well in bad way.

Pressure is good for an overall performance

Yes its true that without pressure you wont be able to give 100%. Its same like you are able to finish the whole years portion in last week before exam. Its all because of pressure
Don't take the pressure on you in a negative way instead take it in positive manner.

In real life also the Pressure=Force/Area formula holds true.
Pressure is directly proportional to Force. More your parents hit on you the more you will get pressurized.

Tips on How not to get pressurized

  • Your parents want you to study and succeed so its natural from their side to expect from you
  • If you feel uneasy when your parents pressurize you, just discuss it with your parents on how its affecting you studies.
  • Study on daily basis. If you keep studying daily then the pressure from your parents will turn into inspiration for you. So just avoid procrastination.
