About IIST-2010


Objectives of IIST

The main objective of the IIST is to offer Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral programmes in space science & Technology, with specialization in Avionics, Aerospace Engineering and Physical Sciences. In addition to this, the Institute also intends to stimulate, conserve and disseminate knowledge in diverse scientific and academic fields.

At  IIST

  • IIST upholds its general objective as  a unique Institute in the country where education is totally integrated with research work in the areas of Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications.
  • IIST creates a community of teachers and students of international standards, who combine rigorous academic activity with creative research, simulation and propagation of knowledge.
  • We also endorse our institute as an autonomous space of learning which nurtures an academic discipline and work culture which are non-parallel, with the support of highly advanced laboratories and interdisciplinary programmes that redefines the boundaries of conventional academic discourses.

Admissions

IIST conducts ISAT every year to take admissions to the B.Tech programmes

Seats Offered

The total number of seats for all the Undergraduate programmes in IIST for the academic year 2010-11 is 156. The seat matrix for different programmes are as follows:

  • B Tech in Aerospace Engineering: 52
  • B Tech in Avionics: 65
  • B Tech in Physical Sciences: 39.

Reservation to different categories will be governed by Govt. of India Rules.

Under Graduate Programmes (4 years):
a) B. Tech (Avionics Engineering)
b) B. Tech (Aerospace Engineering)
c) B. Tech (Physical Sciences)

FEE STRUCTURE

The expenditure per semester for tuition fees, hostel accommodation and boarding etc is borne fully by IIST for every student who scores a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 6 out of 10. In addition, a book allowance of Rs 3000 is provided every semester to every student. If a student scores less than 6 GPA out of 10, he/she has to bear the expenditure of the next semester.
