I did not receive an acknowledgement for JEE application. What should I do?
No acknowledgement card will be sent. However, you may check the status of your application on the JEE websites, IVRS and through SMS
I have filled in wrong details in the application form but I haven’t sent the application form yet. Can I change it?
If, by mistake you darkened a wrong bubble and wish to change it, erase the darkened bubble completely using a pencil eraser, and then darken the correct bubble. Do not use any whitener to erase a darkened bubble.
What all needs to be attested along with the application form?
Attach an attested photo-copy of the 10th class certificate for proof of your name and date of birth along with the original application form. You should also attach attested photo-copy of SC/ST/DS certificate in the prescribed format (If you belong to these categories).
Do not sign on the photograph and do not get it attested.
Can the options once submitted in the application form be changed on a later stage i.e. after submission of the form?
Options once selected in the application form cannot be changed at a later stage
What if I forgot to mention a point in my application form. Can I contact JEE office to refill?
Your application must be complete in all respects. Incomplete application forms or application forms filled in a language other than English will be summarily rejected
I do not want to appear for JEE but I have already filled the application Fee. Can I get it back?
The application fee is non-refundable
Can I use a pen instead of a HB pencil?
The answers for each of the questions are to be recorded on a separate specially designed machine-gradable sheet of paper (ORS – Optical Response Sheet). While answering each of the questions the candidate is expected to darken the bubble against correct answer(s) using hard black (HB) pencils only.
Is there any negative marking for IIT-JEE 2010
As per IIT-JEE 2010 Information Brochure, in some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded negative marks.
I have filled my option of answering the paper as Hindi and submitted my application form. Can I change to English?
A candidate can opt for question papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling the application form. It cannot be changed at any later stage.
I have poor vision and need enlarged question paper. What should I do?
Candidates with poor vision can ask for question paper with enlarged font. They must send a request letter addressed to the Chairman, JEE of the respective zones along with the application form.
I have got a centre which is very far from my home. Can I raise a request for change of centre?
Requests for a change of centre within a city, will not be entertained.
However, under exceptional circumstances, a change of city within the zone or outside the zone may be permitted with a request letter. The letter should clearly indicate the Registration Number with valid reasons for the change and should be received on or before March 28, 2010 along with a draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/ PD candidates) drawn in favour of “Chairman, JEE” of the concerned IIT. The application should be sent to the IIT from where the candidate received the admit card. In this regard, the decision of the Chairman, JEE-2010 will be final.
I have attempted JEE in 2008. Can I attempt this time also?
One can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means one should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2009 or will be appearing in 2010.
I had accepted JEE admission last year and had filled the required fees but did not join. Can I appear for JEE this year?
Those who have accepted admission after qualifying in JEE in earlier years by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISM, Dhanbad, are NOT ELIGIBLE to write JEE at all irrespective of whether or not they joined in any of the programmes.

Who is a gazette officer?
The Indian government officials are classified into Class A, B, C and D. The Class C and D consist of Upperdivision and lowerdivison clerks grade. Class A and B (contains few gazette officers) belong to the managerial class of the government services and belong to the policy formulation, policy implementation, personnel management and the like. Such officers, among other functions have also in their jurisdiction, the power to attest the documents for academic and other purposes.
I have not received my Admit Card yet. What should I do?
If the admit card is not received by March 20, 2010, you can obtain your registration number and examination centre from the institute of your zone through phone/ website. On receiving the data, write your name, registration number and the examination centre on two identical halves of an A4-size paper. Affix your photographs (same version of photograph which you have pasted in your application form) one on each half and sign on the bottom of the photographs. Then get this attested by the Head of your School / Institution last attended / gazette officer / notary public. Meet the IIT Representative with this paper on the day of examination (April 11, 2010) one hour before the commencement of the examination at the office of the Presiding Officer of the examination centre. The IIT Representative will accept one half and give the other back to you.
