Q1. What is the eligibility criteria for the exam?

Ans.

  • All candidates must have passed (10+2) or equivalent with Physics (P) & Mathematics (M) as compulsory subjects and Chemistry or Computer Sciences or Biotechnology or Biology, as one of the optional subjects. They must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in these subjects to be considered for selection (45% for SC/ST/OBC).
  • A candidate with a diploma in the appropriate branch of engineering awarded by a State Board of Technical Education, and with at least 50% in aggregate in diploma is also

Q2. What is the criteria for reservation of seats?

Ans. The criteria for reservation of seats is as follows:

Sikkim: Candidates seeking admission through Sikkim category need to apply directly to the Director -Technical Education, Education Department, Government of Sikkim.

Defence: Wards of all Defence (serving/retired) services personnel are eligible to apply but preference will be given to wards of personnel posted in Sikkim.

North East: Domicile/Residence certificate from concerned district authorities is required to be submitted. DGHC:Sponsorship letter from Principal Secretary, DGHC is required, to be submitted. Paramilitary Force: Wards of all Paramilitary Force (serving/retired) personnel are eligible to apply but preference will be given to wards of personnel posted in Sikkim

NRI: Candidates seeking admission under this categoryshould beForeign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries. Admission under this category will be given after screening conducted by SMU. If the candidate himself/herself is not an NRI, then he/she may be sponsored by his/her father, mother, brother, sister, uncle or aunt, grandparent who must be an NRI. Candidates qualifying from Foreign Universities are required to submit the equivalent grading/percentage of marks from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi).Note:Candidates from Bhutan and Nepal can also appear in the entrance examination UGET2. If they get a rank in merit then the admission will be given under General category.

Q3. What examinations are there under SMU?

Ans. The following Entrance Examinations are there under SMU:

1.      All India Engineering Entrance Examination (Conducted by CBSE)

2.      UGET2 (Conducted by the University) conducted all over India.

3.      MU-ENAT (Conducted by Manipal University all over India).

Q4. From where can an individual get the forms?

Ans. An individual can get forms from:

Option 1

The prospectus is available from select branches of HDFC Bank, AXIS Bank and ICICI Banks till 31.07.2011.list of HDFC, AXIS Bank and ICICI Bank Branches.

Option 2

The prospectus can be purchased from Sikkim Manipal University, Admissions office by writing to the following address by enclosing a request along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- drawn in the name of Sikkim Manipal University payable at Gangtok.

Q5. For what amount is the DD drawn?

Ans. The DD is drawn for an amount of Rs. 500.

Q6. In whose favour is the DD to be drawn?

Ans. The DD is to be drawn in favour of Sikkim Manipal University payable at Gangtok.

Ans. The dates are: April 8 - 15 and April 25 - 28 , 2011 respectively

Q11. What are the dates for UGET2 Offline and Online test?

Ans. The dates for offline and online tests are May 8 and April 23 to May 22, 2011 respectively
