1. I am interested in joining B.Tech. at VIT. When can I apply?
The application forms are available from 06th December 2010 to 28th February 2011..
2. How can I obtain an application form?
The Prospectus and the information brochure for the B.Tech. Degree programme - 2011, can be obtained against cash payment of Rs. 750/- from the various post offices as given in website.
- By sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 750/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’ payable at Vellore to the address of Admissions Officer, VIT University, Vellore with a request letter containing the complete address with phone number. (or)
- By handing over a DD of Rs. 750/- in person at VIT University from the following addresses:

3. What is the cost of the application form?
The cost of the application form is Rs.750/-.
4. When is the entrance examination (VITEEE)?
VIT Entrance examination (VITEEE-2011) is scheduled on 16th April 2011 (Saturday) in selected cities all over India and abroad
5. What will be the time schedule for VITEEE?
The examination will be for the duration of two and half hours, from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
6.In the information brochure VITEEE timings is given as 10.30 am to 1.00 pm. But the website shows the exam time as 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm. What is time schedule for VITEEE?
The revised VITEEE-2011 timing is between 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm. We have received many representations from candidates and parent to avoid the conflict of time of VITEEE with IIST (ISAT) entrance examination. So we have shifted the examination to the afternoon session at 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
7. I have opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in +2. For which branches of B.Tech. am I eligible to seek admission, if I qualify in VITEEE?
You will be eligible only for Three B.Tech. Degree programmes::
Bioinformatics
Biotechnology and
Bio-Medical Engineering
8. I have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, in +2. Which branches in B.Tech. am I eligible to seek admission to, if I qualify in VITEEE?
You are eligible for all the Thirteen B.Tech. Degree programmes.
9. I have secured 58% in PCM / PCB in qualifying examination, but in 2010 I am appearing for the Improvement Examination, can I apply?
Yes, you can apply, but at the time of counselling you should produce the proof that you have secured 60% aggregate in PCM / PCB.
10. I have secured 60% over all aggregate marks in the qualifying examination, but I have not secured 60% aggregate in PCM / PCB, am I eligible for VITEEE?
Sorry, you are not eligible..
11. I scored a very high percentage in my qualifying +2 examination. Will this be taken into consideration for my admission into VIT or will this be considered on par with my marks scored in VITEEE for admission?
Your admission into B.Tech. will be based purely on your merit in the VITEEE.
12. What should be the age criteria of the candidate to be eligible for VITEEE?
Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1989 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2011. The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / Xth Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age, at the time of counselling, failing which they will be disqualified.
13. What are the eligibility criteria for appearing VITEEE?
The applicant for admission should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian National and should have studied in Regular, Full time and formal education.
14. What is the syllabus for VITEEE?
The syllabus for VITEEE is available in the VITEEE Information brochure.
15. In which cities will VITEEE be conducted?
The examination will be conducted in 106 Test cities..

16. What will be the pattern of the question paper?
The question paper will only consist of multiple choice questions.
17. Can I have the model of question paper of VITEEE?
Sample questions are available in the information brochure. Refer page No. 25.
18. How will I know if my application is received at VIT?
For the benefit of the candidates, the following arrangements have been made to enable the students to know the status of the application.
Once the application is received at VIT, a message will be sent by SMS to the candidate stating that the application has been received at VIT. This would however be possible only if the mobile number is correctly shaded in the application form. The candidates may also track the status of their application by typing their application number in the VIT website. However, this feature can be availed of only after about 2 weeks of despatch of the application.
19. After applying can I request for change of centre?
Once the centre is allotted, the change of centre will not be entertained, under any circumstances.
20. Whether online application form is available?
You can also apply through online at http://www.vit.ac.in/viteee2011 . The details are available on our website.
21. How can I make correction on the VITEEE-2011 online application form after generation of the application number?
You cannot make any correction on the existing application form after generation of the application number. You may have to open and enter a fresh application form with correct details ignoring the previous application. The application form that is received with the DD will only be considered and the datas of the same will be utilized for generating the Admit Card. Therefore make sure that the online application form contains the correct details before giving the submit option and sent it along with the DD of Rs. 750/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’ payable at Vellore.
22. What are the important steps to be followed while filling the VITEEE-2011 offline application form?
Before posting the application please ensure that
* You have read the instructions carefully.
* You have to use black ball-point pen to enter the codes in the boxes and pencil to shade the alphabet / numeral / circle as indicated.
* You have to affix a good quality recent, colour photograph in the space provided.
* You should NOT attest the Photograph.
* You have to clearly and legibly write your complete postal address to which the communication is to be sent.
* You have to enter your correct PINCODE.
* You have to indicate your correct STD code and Phone No. / Mobile No.
* You have to mention your correct e-mail address.
* You have to sign in the space provided below the photograph and in the declaration form.
* Your parent / guardian has to sign the declaration form.
* You should not use any pins or stapler in your application.
* You have to clearly indicate whether you require hostel accommodation or not.
* You have to enter the correct Test City Code on the envelope provided.
* You have to retain a photocopy of your application.
23. What are the important steps to be followed while filling the VITEEE-2011 online application form?
Before posting the application please ensure that
1. Before filling the application form, Kindly refer the Information Brochure carefully.
2. Fill all the columns carefully, incomplete application will be rejected.
3. Enter the required details and then click on the 'Submit & Proceed to Printing' Button on the bottom of the page.
4. Please check the content before proceeding for print. The print out should be in A4 size only.
5. The duly filled-in application form to be affixed with colour passport size photograph and Signature.
6. The application form to be sent along with the DD of Rs. 750/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore for Indian candidates (or 50 USD for NRI candidates).
7. The application form has to be sent to the address of Admissions Officer, VIT University, Vellore-632014, Tamil Nadu, India
8. Kindly note down the application no. generated for any future correspondence.
9. Candidates are advised to take photocopy of the application form.

24. What should I do if I do not receive the VITEEE admit card by the time of the examination?
In case you do not receive the Admit Card by 31st of March 2011, you should make it a point to report the same immediately to the Admissions Officer. If you do not receive the Admit Card, before the examination date, he / she would have to meet VIT Representative one day before the examination at the centre with a copy of the application form and two attested pass-port size photographs, identical to the one affixed in the application form. All enquiries pertaining to the Admit Card without mentioning application number will not be entertained under any circumstances.
25. On what basis will the merit list be prepared?
The merit list will be prepared purely based on the marks scored by the candidates in VITEEE.
26. Will my merit in any other All India Competitive exams be considered?
No. We take into account only the VITEEE scores.
27. When will be the VITEEE Results declared?
On May 6, 2011. (Tentatively)
28. How can I know about the VITEEE Results?

29. Does the University offer any scholarships to meritorious candidates?
Yes. We offer scholarship under 'GV school development programmes (GVSDP)'
* Rank holders of 1 to 50 in VITEEE will get 75% tuition fee wavier for all the 4 years.
* Rank holders of 51 to 100 in VITEEE will get 50% of tuition fee wavier for all the 4 years.
30. Are the diploma holders eligible to apply for VITEEE and join directly in the second year?
Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for VITEEE
31. Is there any special fee concession for the state toppers in H.Sc. examination?
Special fee concession for topper’s of each state (in their State Board Exams) – full tuition fee waiver for all the 4 years.
32. May I know about the hostel accommodation and the facilities available in the campus?
We have separate hostels for both boys and girls inside the campus. For hostel fee details you can refer the information brochure. The other facilities like, Banks/ ATM, Post Office, Cafeteria and Departmental Stores etc., all are also available inside the campus.
33. How do I get to the University? How far is it from the railway station?
VIT is located on the main road from Tiruvalam to Katpadi. VIT is about 140kms from Chennai. By rail you can reach VIT by arriving at Katpadi railway junction. VIT University is just 2 kms from the Katpadi Railway Station (You can hire autos to reach easily).

36. I am a NRI candidate, How can I apply for VITEEE?
NRI candidate can apply in two ways.
* Through VITEEE-2011 online on payment of 50 USD along with the print out of filled-out application form available on our website at http://www.vit.ac.in/viteee2011 (or )
* Without writing VITEEE, apply directly through NRI category, for which the application form is available at http://www.vit.ac.in/Admissions/pronew.asp
37. What are the Test Cities in Foreign Countries?
Test Cities in abroad are Riyadh, Dubai and Singapore.
38. Can parents attend the counselling instead of the candidate?
For B.Tech Programme, it is mandatory that the candidate attends the counselling. However, if the candidate is unable to attend due to some genuine reason, we can permit parents to represent the candidate. In such a case, the candidate should give an authorization letter in favour of his/her parents. The decision taken by the parents is final and binding.
39. Can I take Demand Draft from any bank ?
It can be drawn from any Nationalized Bank. Kindly avoid personal cheque.
40. Whether i can make use of black ball point pen or not while filling up of the application form?
Use only Black ball point pen to enter required information and use only Black pencil to shade the circles.
41. Under the Nativity state what should i fill?
Under the nativity state kindly mention the place where you have born. The candidates hailing from north-eastern states may have to produce the Nativity certificate at the time of counseling.
42. I am a NRI, for how much amount should i take the Demand Draft for applying through online?
NRI candidates should take the Demand draft for 50 USD and enclose along with the online application form.
43. What are the documents to be enclosed?
You are required to send the filled-out application form along with the Demand draft for Rs. 750/- only.
