CET is charging Rs.5,000/- per application form for NRI students whereas it is Rs.650/- for locals. Let CET explain why it is so costly for NRIs. Is examination conducted outside India or is it fleecing of NRIs.

Ministers from Karnataka Government including Chief Minister meet NRIs requesting them to invest in the state to generate local employments whereas CET is fleecing NRIs in the name of application and admission fees.

If the education in Karnataka becomes so costly for NRIs where is the need for them to send their children to home state instead send them to other states where it may certainly be cheaper.

CET should note that many NRIs have lost jobs abroad and some of them rejoined for reduced salary due to recession worldwide and bearing high food price inflation. Further NRIs have to spend a lot for attestation from Indian Embassies for Certificates. Please note application fee for IIT entrance exam is Rs.900/- and fee for AIEEE is Rs.750/- for both local and NRIs. So, is CET exam more costlier than IIT or AIEEE. What is the logic in increasing previous year CET application fee from Rs.3,000/- to Rs.5,000/- for this year.

I request both CET and Karnataka Government to reconsider Application fee for NRIs now. Further consider NRIs problems while deciding fee structure for admissions to colleges in the near future.
