The application forms are available from 14th December 2009 to 20th February 2010.
2. How can I obtain an application form?

3. What is the cost of the application form?
The cost of the application form is Rs.750/-.
4. When is the entrance examination (VITEEE)?
Our entrance examination (VITEEE-2010) is scheduled on 17th April 2010 (Saturday) in selected cities all over India and abroad.
5. What will be the time schedule for VITEEE?
The examination will be for a duration of two and half hours, from 10.30am to 1.00pm.
6. I have opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in +2. For which branches of B.Tech. am I eligible to seek admission, if I qualify in VITEEE?
You will be eligible only for Three B.Tech. Degree programmes::
1) Bioinformatics
2) Biotechnology and
3) Bio-Medical Engineering
7. I have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, in +2. Which branches in B.Tech. am I eligible to seek admission to, if I qualify in VITEEE?
You are eligible for all the Twelve B.Tech. Degree programmes.
8. I have secured 58% in PCM / PCB in qualifying examination, but in 2010 I am appearing for the Improvement Examination, can I apply?
Yes, you can apply, but at the time of counselling you should produce the proof that you have secured 60% aggregate in PCM / PCB
9. I have secured 60% over all aggregate marks in the qualifying examination, but I have not secured 60% aggregate in PCM / PCB, am I eligible for VITEEE?
Sorry, you are not eligible..
10. I scored a very high percentage in my qualifying +2 examination. Will this be taken into consideration for my admission into VIT or will this be considered on par with my marks scored in VITEEE for admission?
Your admission into B.Tech. will be based purely on your merit in the VITEEE.
11. What should be the age criteria of the candidate to be eligible for VITEEE?
Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1988 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2010. The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / Xth Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age, at the time of counselling, failing which they will be disqualified.
12. What is the eligibility criteria for appearing VITEEE?
The applicant for admission should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian National and should have studied in Regular, Full time and formal education.
13. What is the syllabus for VITEEE?
The syllabus for VITEEE is available in the VITEEE Information brochure.

15. What will be the pattern of the question paper?
The question paper will only consist of multiple choice questions.

17. How will I know if my application is received at VIT?
For the benefit of the candidates, the following arrangements have been made to enable the students to know the status of the application.
Once the application is received at VIT, a message will be sent by SMS to the candidate stating that the application has been received at VIT. This would however be possible only if the mobile number is correctly shaded in the application form. The candidates may also track the status of their application by typing their application number in the VIT website. However, this feature can be availed of only after about 2 weeks of despatch of the application.
18. After applying can I request for change of centre?
Once the centre is allotted, the change of centre will not be entertained, under any circumstances.
19. Whether online application form is available?
Only NRI candidate can apply through online.
20. What are the important steps to be followed while filling the application form?
Before posting the application please ensure that
- You have read the instructions carefully.
- You have used a black ball-point pen to enter the codes in the boxes and pencil to shade the alphabet / numeral / circle as indicated.
- You have affixed a good quality recent, colour photograph in the space provided.
- You have pasted a photograph without attestation..
- You have clearly and legibly written your complete postal address to which the communication is to be sent.
- You have entered your correct PINCODE.
- You have indicated your correct STD code and Phone No. / Mobile No.
- You have mentioned your correct e-mail address.
- You have signed in the space provided below the photograph and in the declaration form.
- Your parent / guardian has signed the declaration form.
- You have not used any pins or stapler in your application.
- You have clearly indicated whether you require hostel accommodation or not.
- You have entered the correct Test City Code on the envelope provided.
- You have retained a photocopy of your application.
21. What should I do if I do not receive the VITEEE admit card by the time of the examination?
In case you do not receive the Admit Card by 31st of March 2010, you should make it a point to report the same immediately to the Admissions Officer. If you do not receive the Admit Card, before the examination date, he / she would have to meet VIT Representative one day before the examination at the centre with a copy of the application form and two attested pass-port size photographs, identical to the one affixed in the application form. All enquiries pertaining to the Admit Card without mentioning application number will not be entertained under any circumstances.
22. On what basis will the merit list be prepared?
The merit list will be prepared purely based on the marks scored by the candidates in VITEEE.
23. Will my merit in any other All India Competitive exams be considered?
No. We take into account only the VITEEE scores.
24. When will be the VITEEE Results declared?
On May 8, 2010.

26. Does the University offer any scholarships to meritorious candidates?
Yes. VIT offers scholarship under "GV School Development Programme" (GVSDP)
- Rank holders of 1 to 100 in VITEEE will get 50% tuition fee wavier for all the 4 years.
- Special fee concession for topper’s of each State (in their State Board Exams) – Full Tuition Fee Waiver for all the 4 years.
27. Are the diploma holders eligible to apply for VITEEE and join directly in the second year?
Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for VITEEE
28. Is there any special fee concession for the toppers in H.Sc. examination?
Special fee concession for topper’s of each state (in their State Board Exams) – full tuition fee waiver for all the 4 years
29. May I know about the hostel accommodation and the facilities available in the campus?
We have separate hostels for both boys and girls inside the campus. For hostel fee details you can refer the information brochure. The other facilities like, Banks/ ATM, Post Office, Cafeteria and Departmental Stores etc., all are also available inside the campus.
30. How do I get to the University? How far is it from the railway station?
VIT is located on the main road from Tiruvalam to Katpadi. VIT is about 120kms from Chennai. By rail you can reach VIT by alighting at Katpadi railway junction. VIT University is just 2 kms from the Katpadi Railway Station (You can hire autos to reach easily).
