The intake will be 240. Out of these, fifty percent seats will be filled, on the basis of the All India Rank of AIEEE 2010, from the candidates passing their qualifying examination (ie 12th standard or equivalent) from the schools located outside the Gujarat State while the remaining fifty percent seats will be filled, on the basis of the All India Rank of AIEEE 2010, from the candidates passing their qualifying examination (ie 12th standard or equivalent) from the schools located in the Gujarat State. In addition to these 240 seats, 24 seats will be offered to Non-Resident Indians/Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin through DAFS. The Institute may change the number of seats without any notice.

Seats reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories are 15% and 7.5% respectively. Candidates belonging to these categories will be admitted on relaxed criteria as compared to the general category candidates. In case some of the reserved seats are not filled, the unfilled seats will be transferred to the general category.

Guidelines for merit list for first round of counseling

1. All the candidates, who have qualified for the first round of Counselling for admission to 2010 batch of B Tech (ICT) of DA-IICT, are required to attend the counselling at the Institute's Campus as per the schedule given below. A candidate may be accompanied by one Parent/Guardian.

2. The candidates, on the Merit Lists (based on the All India Rank of AIEEE 2010), have been posted individual letters of invitation for counselling and these should reach them soon. However, even if a candidate who has qualified but has not received such communication, he/she must come for counselling as per the above schedule.

3. Counselling is the final phase of the admission process, and is primarily intended to:

i) provide you an opportunity to see the Institute and its facilities.
ii) provide you an opportunity to seek any clarification prior to making your final decision to pay the fees and join the Institute – if admission is finally offered to you.
iii)verify the original and true copies of all certificates/credentials related to your eligibility for admission to the program.

4. In case you do not attend the counselling on the stipulated date and time, it will be presumed that you are not interested in admission to the Institute and the seat would be offered to the next candidate in the merit list.

5.At the time of counselling, you must bring the following documents.Please bring the original documents/certificates and at least one photocopy of each for our verification and records.

• Your Admit Card for AIEEE 2010
• Your All India Rank Card of AIEEE 2010
  
• Mark Sheet/Certificate of Std. X
  
• School Leaving Certificate
  
• Mark Sheet and Certificate of Std. XII
  
• SC/ST Certificate from designated authority (for SC/ST Candidates only)
  
• One passport size photograph.
  

6. During the counselling, depending on your merit, you will be offered a confirmed seat, if a seat is available. If a seat is not available, you will be offered a place on the waitlist. The waitlist status will be updated continuously at this website starting 06 July 2010.

7. All the candidates who are offered admission (confirmed as well as waitlist) will be required to immediately pay Rs. 40,000 (Rupees forty thousand only) through a Demand Draft only drawn in favour of “DA-IICT” and payable at Ahmedabad to cover:

i) Tuition fee of Rs. 30,000 for Semester-I and
ii)Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000 (refundable at the end of the program).

8. No extension of time will be granted for paying the fees later. Failure to deposit the fees by the stipulated time will be taken as your refusal to take the admission to DA-IICT; in such case, the seat would be offered to the next candidate in the merit list.

9. Refunds for the withdrawal of admissions will be as per the AIEEE/UGC rules.

10. Five top students, having AIEEE’s All India Rank up to 2500, will be awarded merit scholarship equivalent to full tuition fees. In addition, some merit-cum-means scholarships are also available.

11. We are making efforts to work out special rates with different hotels at Gandhinagar/ Ahmedabad. Should you be needing hotel accommodation, you will be able to get the information here.

12. Further, on the day of counselling, Courtesy Coaches to bring the candidates/guardians to the Institute Campus will also be available at the Ahmedabad Railway Station. The coaches will be available between 06.00 hrs and 08.15 hrs. The last coach will depart from the Railway Station sharp at 08.15 hrs.

13. All expenses for attending the counselling will have to be borne by you. DA-IICT will not reimburse any charge/cost on this account.

The confirmation message should include the DA-IICT Application No., AIEEE Roll Number, Name, and the DA-IICT Merit List number.

If needed, a second round of counselling will be announced on this website (www.daiict.ac.in) on 29 June 2010. Names of the candidates in the next merit list, for Second Round of counselling, will be uploaded on the same day.
