Guys my father's salary p.a is 2 lakh..my rank in wbjee is 1198.. i want 2 go to JU..i hv sum confusions. 1st only 5% seats r thr 4 TFW students..so will it b wise 4 me 2 go under that scheme..its very unpredictable.no 1 knws wat may happen..say if i dnt get any stream in ju under dis schm(as very less seats 4 TFW students only 5%) and i shall not b considered 4 general counselling cz counselling board has givn a totally different date 4 TFW holders like SC,ST.. den my lyf is doomed. But 1 more thng in this scheme I may hv a chnce of getting core streams in JU cz very less studnts wl go under dis TFW..nd 4 each stream dere is 5%.. Read da abve carefully..SO WAT SHALL I DO? reply plz..

for getting this benefit people have to register themselves on csc website(well the portal is not yet opened), then csc will prepare a inter-see merit list (the process is yet to be decided)... and acc. to this merit list 5% seats will be filled up.... I think there are hand full of people whose an. inc is < 2.5lac... so its gonna be a tough compt. !!!

My rank is 702. I want 2 know whether d Tfw schme hampers my prospects of getting civil in JU. I m not eligible 4 dis scheme so i'm askin.

@tathagata.... no, that wont hamper your chances one bit... you have a very good rank and you will easily and surely get civil.. no worries... enjoy!! but just for being on the safe side, keep alternatives like chemical...

@Sarnab... yeah it will be a tough competition.. think and study before you take that risk.. you wont be a loner in that race..

and mathematically if i work out...

CSE, ELECTRONICS, ELECTRICAL, CHEMICAL,IT around 50-60 seats - 5% means 2-3 seats in each dept which adds upto around 12-14 seats

MECHANICAL, CIVIL around 100 seats - 5% means 5 seats each, which adds upto 10 seats

METALLURGICAL,POWER,INSTRUMENTATION, CONSTRUCTION around 30-40 seats - 5% means 2 seats.. which adds upto 7-8 seats

And Sarnab, i think you would have opted for IT..... so if i rank the dept in the priority order ==== ELECTRONICS>CSE>ELECTRICAL>MECHANICAL>CIVIL>CHEMICAL>POWER>IT> INSTRUMENTATION>CONSTRUCTION>METALLURGICAL>PRINTING>PHARMACY....

so to get IT, your TFW merit list rank hast to be around 30... and for the core sector, has to be around 20-25 (for civil)... so think before you take the risk.... there might be more than 30-40 students within the rank of 1198 who might go under the TFW scheme or there might not be.. its highly unpredictable.. personally i wont take the risk...

they might also opt for BESU...

@Sarnab.. i think if you dont be in the top 20(thats your only chance of getting core in JU) then no point for going to counselling under TFW... because you will anyhow get IT at your rank and if you remain at around 35, you still will get IT and the latter seems a bit risky... so if you dont see yourself at the top, dont opt for TFW..
