Dude, your choice for the university is good & for your career. For core programs, like automobile and petroleum , UPES is the best and only option in India. Being the only core and energy university in India as well as in Asia, evaluating its ranking is not possible. It is unique in its program, so comparing it with others is not fissible. 

Petroleum and automobile both are good fields, but considering Petro courses as their flagship programs I would suggest you to go for Petroleum Engineering. UPES provide pretty good placement for its core courses. Petronet LNG Ltd., Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Ltd., Geo Enpro, Gulf Oil Corporation etc comes to their campus. Infact according to the new facts most of the people getting retried in 2012, hence good job options in this sector. :) all the best
