Possible explanation according to me :- See net Charge inside an ideal conductor is zero means equal amount of protons and electrons lie inside it... Charge only resides at the surface of an ideal conductor ! But as we can see the flow of charge can occur inside an ideal conductor ! So Current can be produced inside an ideal conductor even through net charge inside it is zero !! Or Else , U can also prove this by derivation which i think is Given in all standard books ~! Hope it helps ! :)

Bro

What do u mean by if the conductor has an area ??

Do u want to talk about thick conductors now or the thin ones??
