The Second round of DASA 2017 seat allotment result has been announced on July 06. All the interested candidates were able to fill their application form available online from April 01. The candidates were required to send a valid SAT score and submit their form which was extended untill June 19. DASA 2017 Seat allotment will be strictly based on valid SAT Subject Test scores and the choices given by the applicant in the order of their merit and priority taken together. No individual allotment letters/email are sent to applicants who are offered a seat in the institutes of DASA 2017. Applicants who are allotted seat in Round 1 are required to confirm their options on or before July 02, 2017 (11:59 pm).

To be eligible for admission, the candidates were required to submit their SAT scores mentioning code 7035 before June 22, 2017, for selection in the first round of DASA Seat Allotment. Applicant should have a minimum total valid score of 1800 in SAT Subject Tests valid Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score without which they will not be allowed to participate in seat allotment round. Through the scheme of Direct Admission of Students Abroad, the candidates of foreign nationals, persons of Indian origin, overseas citizens of Indo-residential trial Indian, and the students studying abroad are admitted to the undergraduate engineering courses offered by NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other premier technical institutes.

Schedule of DASA 2017 Counselling

The candidates seeking admission into the engineering programmes under DASA scheme must go through the Important Dates of DASA 2017 in order to avoid missing any crucial procedure for admission. Check the events and vital dates below in the table.

Procedure of DASA 2017 Counselling

The Counselling of DASA 2017 session will be held in five rounds including spot round, for the admission of the eligible candidates in their preferred courses. Check the entire procedure of selection of candidates below.

First Round of DASA Counselling 2017

The candidates whose application form will be accepted successfully are listed in the first round of DASA counselling admission process. The result of the first round of counselling has been displayed in the candidate login page. No individual intimation letters are sent to the candidates. VNIT, Nagpur, is not responsible for the delay in checking the result of counselling. The candidates who will be allotted seats as per their first choice of preference must submit the confirmation of seats before July 02 (11:59 pm). Such candidates will have two options, which are:

  • Accept– If the candidates will be satisfied with the seats, they must accept the seats and download the allotment letter generated on the screen. All the foreign nationals must ensure that they obtain a valid student visa as per their category issued by the Indian Missions Abroad.

  • Decline– If the candidates do not wish to accept the seat, or in case of withdrawal, must click on the ‘Decline’ button. They must download the seat cancellation or withdrawal letter. Such candidates will not be eligible for the admission in round 2 and 3. However, they will be allowed for in round 4 and spot round counselling after registering again.

The candidates who will be granted admission in the any of the courses/institutes other than their first choices of preferences, they must submit three options:

  • Accept– If the candidates wished to take admission in the allotted seats and do not wish for any up gradation. Such candidates must click on ‘Accept’

  • Accept and Upgrade– The candidates who accept the allotted but wish for the up gradation in the subsequent rounds. They must click on this option. The provisional allotment letter will be allotted to the candidates. In case, no up gradation will be done in round 2, the seat accepted in round 1 will be retained.

  • Decline– If the candidates want to withdraw the seat, they must click on the option of ‘Decline’.

Second Round of DASA 2017 Counselling

The candidates who were not allotted any seats in the first round and such candidates who choose the option of up gradation will be eligible for the admission process in the second round. The allotment of seats will be displayed on the official website on June 24, 2017. The candidates who will be allotted seats will be required to confirm their seats before June 27, 2017. After analysing the seats offered to them, the candidates who will be allotted seats in their first preference must submit their confirmation by clicking on ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’.

The candidates who will be allotted seats in the institutes/courses except their first choices will have to update their confirmation through ‘Accept’, ‘Accept & Upgrade’ and ‘Decline’ choices.

Third Round of DASA Counselling

The candidates who will be left with no seat in round 2 and the candidates who selected the option of ‘Upgrade’ will be allowed for round 3. The result of seat allotment for round 3 will be available on the website on June 30, 2017. The candidates who will be allotted seats as per their first choice of preferences must submit their confirmation by July 03, 2017. The candidates must confirm their seats by selecting ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ button.

If the candidates will be offered seats other than the first preferred institutes/courses, such candidates must confirm it by accepting it, upgrading and declining buttons.

Fourth Round of DASA 2017 Counselling

The candidates who opted for up gradation in round 3, or the applicants who have declined their seats in earlier will be eligible for the fourth round. Also, the aspirants who were ineligible in the previous rounds and now are eligible for the admission can participate in the counselling process. New registration of the candidates will also be done between July 04 to July 07, 2017.

The result of counselling will be displayed on the website. The candidates who will be allotted seats as per their first preferences will be allowed to either ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ the seat. However, the candidates allotted seats other than the first choice of preferences will have three options – ‘Accept’, ‘Accept and Upgrade’ and ‘Decline’.

As per the convenience, the applicant must decide and choose the options, before the due date which is July 17, 2017. The provisional allotment letter will be generated to the candidates who accepts the seats and withdrawal letter for the candidates who will opt for rejection.

Reporting to the allotted Institutes/Colleges

After the fourth round of DASA 2017 Counselling, the candidates are advised to check their allotment status and take a print out of their allotment letter. All the candidates will have to report to the allotted college/institute along with the provisional allotment letter and relevant documents for verification purpose. Failing in reporting to the institute in the specified period time will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Spot Round of DASA 2017 Counselling

The seat allotment for the vacant seats will be occupied through the ‘Spot Round’. All the applicants who were not eligible for the admission in the previous rounds will be allowed for the admission after the verification of DASA Eligibility Criteria. Also, the candidates who withdraw themselves from the counselling session in the previous rounds can register again in this round. The registration for the counselling will start from July 29 to July 31, 2017. After the allotment of seats on August 02, 2017, the candidates will have to confirm the seats.

After the allotment of seats in DASA 2017 Counselling Spot round, the candidates will have to report to the allotted institute for the completion of admission formalities.

Documents to be furnished for Admission

Check the list of documents to be produced at the time of admission procedure to the allotted institutes below. All the original documents must be submitted for verification purpose.

  • Self-attested mark sheet of the qualifying examination
  • An authenticated translated copy of the document written in any other language other than English or Hindi.
  • Applicant’s Passport- The candidates of Nepal can also submit the authenticated citizenship card if they do not have passport.
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Letter from school authority as a proof of completion of X and XII examination
