About Exam (IIIT Delhi 2011):

IIIT Delhi 2011 is an autonomous institute created by Government of NCT of Delhi the IIIT Delhi Act, 2007 and the Delhi Act 5 of 2008. IIIT Delhi 2011 is empowered to offer degree programs at all levels.The mission of IIIT Delhi 2011 is to be a global centre of excellence in Information Technology (IT) education, training and research. Its twin aims are:

  • To train and educate, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engineers of outstanding ability who can become innovators and creators of new technology and products in the country.
  • To carry out advanced research and development in Information and Software technology, and in better leveraging IT in specific domain areas. It has started a B.Tech. (IT) program in 2008, and has started a Ph.D. program in 2009. Information about these programs is available on the institute

Admission Process for IIIT Delhi 2011

  • Candidates from Delhi seeking admission to IIIT Delhi 2011 will have to appear in the entrance test. Admission decision for Delhi candidates will be solely based on the merit in the entrance test, and all the seats will be filled through this test (that is, there is no “management quota”). The eligibility criterion on who can appear in the test is given below. Only students who satisfy the eligibility criteria are allowed to take the test and will be required to bring an attested copy of their marksheet at the time of entrance test.
  • Candidates from outside Delhi do not have to appear in the IIIT-D entrance test. Admission decision for outside Delhi candidates who satisfy eligibility criteria given below will be solely based on AIEEE 2011 rank.

Reservation of seats :

  • For Delhi Students : 85% seats reserved (Based on IIIT Delhi Exam)
  • For other states :15% seats reserved (Based on AIEEE 2011 Score)
  • Eligibility :- 80% in 10+2 (PCM)

IIIT Delhi 2011 Exam Information

The test is of objective type. Total number of questions will be 100, and the total time will be 2.5 hours. Each question will have multiple responses, and the student will have to choose the best response and mark the response on the OMR Answer Sheet. All questions will be compulsory and there will be no negative marking. The paper consists of the following sections.

Section 1: Comprehension
Section 2: Quantitative
Section 3: Logical/Analytical

Some of these sections may have sub-sections. There is no specific time allotted to each section. You are expected to answer all 100 questions within the allotted time of 2.5 hours (i.e. average of 1.5 mts each question). All questions are of equal marks.

Section 1: Comprehension

The Comprehension section is primarily to check the ability of the candidates to understand facts and arguments. Most of the questions will be of the following nature: A passage with a Technical Backdrop will be given and then based on that passage there will be few questions. The passages can be on any topic but will be self contained and self explanatory. The primary motive is to check the comprehension if he is given a completely alien topic and a specified time to answer questions pertaining to the topic.

Section 2: Quantitative Ability

This section is designed to measure your basic math and algebraic skills, your understanding of basic quantitative concepts, and your ability to reason quantitatively and solve quantitative problems. The section will have problems related to Arithmetic, Algebra & Geometry. It will also have data interpretation questions which are based on line graphs, bar charts, tables, case-lets and numbers, and test the ability to interpret the given data and make deductions from them, and may involve calculations also.

Section 3: Logical/Analytical

Analytical/Logical is the ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense based on available information. Such skills include demonstration of the ability to apply logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information, designing and testing solutions to problems, and formulating plans. It also tests a candidate on his/her understanding of relationships. The section will also contain decision making questions which gauge the ability of the student in selecting the correct course of action among several alternatives, given several input conditions or constraints.

You can apply thru AIEEE, there is not any reserved seats for foreign students; but the candidates outside from Delhi can go thru AIEEE.
