Counseling for admission to B.Tech Marine Engineering course in affiliated colleges in Indian Maritime University campus and affiliated college will be held from from 11-15 July 2011.

The counseling  will be from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m as  per details given below:

Candidates are advised to fill in  all the entries in Form B (Proforma) in duplicate and attend counseling with one set of copies of certificates along with original certificates of date of birth, qualification, community (caste) for verification, demand draft for Rs.37,500/- (or Rs.35,000/- as the case may be) in favour of Indian Maritime University Chennai  (name and roll number of the candidate to be written on the back of the demand draft), medical fitness certificate from DG approved panel of doctors. 

Eligibility Criteria

The following will be the eligibility for courses mentioned therein:

  • B.Tech Marine Engineering : 60% marks put together in Maths, Physics and Chemistry in 10+2 and 50% in English in 10th or 10+2

  • Age : completed 17.5 years as on 1st August 2011 (Refer to MS Notice 24 of 2002)

Candidates fulfilling the above eligibility criteria are alone permitted to attend the counseling even though their names may  appear  in the counseling list.

  • Medical Standards

Power upto +/- 2.5; no colour blindness – for B.Tech course

The Medical test including eye test should be done by a DG approved Doctor and fitness certificate to be produced at the time of counseling (Refer to Medical Rules)

Call letters are sent to the address given by candidates.  The IMU will not be responsible for non-receipt of call letters. (Candidates are requested not to hold IMU responsible for non-receipt of call letters) if any.

CONDITIONS FOR COUNSELING FOR ADMISSION TO B.TECH COURSE

1. A fee of Rs.35,000/- by way of demand draft towards counseling fee of Rs.10,000/- and IMU Programme fee of Rs.25,000/- has to be paid at the time of allotment. You may collect the allotment letter upon payment of Rs.35,000/- at the counseling desk. The amount has to be paid in full. No further correspondence will be entertained.

2. The fees payable to the Institute allotted will be Rs.2,00,000/-.

3. The candidate has to report to the institute allotted on or before 10.08.2011

4. The candidate has to submit original certificates of date of birth, educational qualification and other relevant certificates, medical fitness certificate from Directorate General of Shipping approved list of Doctors/Hospitals. The institutes will check all documents before admission to the course. The 10+2 certificate from the Board of Hr. Secondary Education has to be produced at the time of admission. Without production of certificate, no candidate will be admitted to the course.

5. No change in Institute will be entertained.

6. Please refer to Guidelines on Refunds on the website of IMU. Refunds will be made only in case of eye test failure and as per guidelines made available in the website. No other refund will be made.

7. Candidates are advised to go through all rules and then join the course. No refund of any fees will be made if the candidate has joined the course even for one day.

Candidates are informed that mere attending of counseling does not guarantee seats. Allotment will be made depending on the availability of seats and based on the rank in the CET.

Candidates are advised to report to the Indian Maritime University only on the allotted date and time.

The candidates upon selection will have to report to the institution allotted on 01.08.2011. Selected candidates will have to obtain passport and submit a copy to the allotted institution.

The Indian Maritime University is located at East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai. This place is 5 kms. ahead of VGP Golden Beach   on East Coast Road on the way leading to Mahabalipuram. IMU is just before the Toll Plaza on the ECR.   Bus Nos. 19G from Parry Corner, (near to Chennai Central Railway Station) PP 49 and 19 from Saidapet reach this place.

There is no accommodation facility available within and near the IMU campus. Candidates are requested to make accommodation arrangements in the city of Chennai.
